@tompeck@BethRigby As a voter it would be nice to hear the answers rather than the constant interruptions and weird commentary to the audience. Feel like the interviewer is trying to make herself, rather than the electoral decision, the centre of attention.
@HMRCcustomers I got a message from the childcare service to call you, and I followed the instructions in the message. I've been on hold for 45 minutes (so far). How long should I stay on the line?
@JenWilliams_FT The damage is done now. He either cuts the northern leg of HS2 and it confirms the Tory abandonment of the North. Or he continues with it after all, and he looks weak. Similar vibes as Brown’s 2007 election indecision.
Sky's Sophy Ridge reads out part of the Energy Secretary's speech where she says, 'there's no wonder Labour seem so relaxed about taxing meat...' - and asks: "You didn't write that, did you? They're not proposing a meat tax?"

Yes, plus it invites the question: what gives Rishi Sunak the legitimacy to make “long term decisions” at all? If you want to water down climate targets, radically overhaul post-16 education and scrap major infrastructure projects, set out your stall and call an election.
Extremely discordant to have a policy platform called "long term decisions for a brighter future" and for it to be:
Pushing back environmental targets
Scrapping much of HS2
Cutting welfare benefits
Charging to see GPs
More like "short-term decisions for a happier Treasury".
I don’t generally trust what comes out of Tory mouths, but as a relatively new parent I’ll admit that I believed him on this. Who would use their kids in this way when they didn’t actually mean what they were saying?
I remember precisely one thing of substance from the Tory leadership circus last summer: Sunak saying in a debate that he understands the climate emergency because he has young girls and they care deeply about it. In hindsight it seems like the most cynical political opportunism.
NEW: Rishi Sunak plans to row back on some of government’s net zero policies that impose a direct cost on consumers as Tories attempt to create dividing line with Labour ahead of election.

@Samfr The tax-free childcare pot is useful (if still wildly insufficient to actually tackle the problem) but the allowance (£500 per quarter, £2k per year) hasn’t increased since the policy was announced in 2017. As fees increase it covers less and less of the monthly bill.
