@RRohampton@ChrisWickNews Yes, all these poetic exchanges taking place between Canadian MAGA’s and their US “friends”. When they make the mistake of an actual pricing example they don’t use the exchange rate, or convert from imperial to metric quantities properly, or compare discount to premium quality.
The Calgary Chamber - and the entire business community - is raising the alarm about continuing the conversation on separation. Separatist-driven uncertainty leads to "job losses, declining productivity and reductions in regional economic growth."
Charlie Angus calls for an investigation into Alberta separatists meeting with US State Department officials: The most serious threat to Canada is coming from the White House.
Both Porter and Air Canada already fly out of both airports. Pearson just broke ground on a $3B+ expansion. We don’t need a $5B lake-fill project at Billy Bishop that will undermine Ontario Place, the Islands, the Port Lands, and the waterfront.
This push exists because Nieuport Aviation (backed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management) bought the terminal from Porter in 2015 — and it’s not delivering. Traffic remains well below pre-COVID peaks (~1.75M vs 2.8M). Ford’s former Deputy Chief of Staff, Mark Lawson, has been lobbying hard for Nieuport and he has Ford’s ear.
A better idea: Swing bridges on the Eastern + Western Gaps for ped/bike/trolley access. This would open up the entire waterfront from the Beaches to the Humber. Turn the Islands (tied to the Port Lands) into a world-class car-free park like NYC’s Central Park or Chicago’s Millennium Park — year-round tourism, recreation, no more ferry bottlenecks.
Waterfronts are for people, not runways. Toronto has aspired for decades to be a great city but consistently screws it up. Let’s finally do something to make Toronto a city we can be proud of.
This is why I find Poilievre so tiresome - his only strategy is to attack on every issue simultaneously, even if it doesn't make sense.
Household debt-to-income has actually been pretty flat over the past decade, but he wasn't concerned about it rising drastically under Harper.
The ideologically-captured TTC Board were clearly irritated and uncomfortable with my deputation. Most remained preoccupied with their phones and laptops while I articulated the harsh realities about the transit system they are entrusted to care for.
The average salary of those in the room exceeded $200K per year, including Joe Mihevc, a “consultant” who has several lucrative contracts with the City. No Board member had any comments or questions for me and were eager to see me leave the room. The Chair was especially displeased with my remarks.
FYI - the TTC has a costly “diversity department” and “truth and reconciliation action plan.” I’m not sure how either are related to their operating mandate of delivering a safe, reliable, and efficient transit system.
Unfortunately the role of the opposition has changed from keeping things in ‘check’ to opposing everything the elected government is trying to get done for Canadians… that includes education, healthcare and daycare initiatives. Politicians like Poilievre, Smith and Lantsman are a massive waste of time and taxpayers money.
@PierrePoilievre Global G20 economic growth is projected to average roughly 3.1% to 3.4% annually, with emerging markets leading the way. Developing economies make up the highest growth tiers, while advanced economies lag significantly behind.
Just so we are clear.
Pierre Poilievre voted against the national school lunch program.
Voted against $10 a day childcare.
Voted against dentalcare.
The leader of the opposition spent double than the Prime Minister of Canada did.
This should be investigated.
New: The US, Canada & Mexico are set to blow past the July 1 USMCA renewal window, with talks poised to continue. The pact remains in place and enters rolling review. It seems the US wants a pair of side deals and no Congressional vote/overhaul of USMCA text. Story w/ @btaplatt.
This World Environment Day, as we appreciate the forests, oceans, mountains, rivers, and wildlife that sustain us, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting them. Through Canada’s Strategy to Protect Nature, we’re advancing efforts to protect our lands, waters, and wildlife.
@integrity_to Subway closures on half of the weekends for the last 18 months and we have to listen to animal wayfinding. The only animals the TTC needs are guard dogs to keep the crackheads out of the subways and streetcars.
