Ideally, stay inside with your doors and windows closed and use your HEPA air filters if you have them. If you don't have any air filters, I do recommend buying one if you're able to. Know what filters and settings your home HVAC system has.
This chart shows forecast wildfire smoke concentrations vs both time and height above the ground. As you can see, smoke concentrations will get significantly worse after 5pm tonight and remain quite bad through Thursday - including at ground level.
If you go outside, wear an N95 (or better - P100 respirator) mask.
Wildfire smoke is toxic. It's cancerous and has long-term impacts on your health with PM2.5 particles and VOCs. It can, over the long term, cause heart attacks and strokes.
