@Arithmaticks I did an MEd whilst working full time. I would say the knowledge from the specific area I researched is not particularly useful but in terms of getting an overview of maths education research and doing small-scale projects in school it has been really useful.
Trying to decide if I should teach/use the word addend or not. Context is a lesson on addition with low-attaining KS3 students. Thoughts? I'm also interested in whether primary and secondary teachers think differently here.
A lesson introducing set notation in case it is of use to anyone. Mostly sharing because I have absolutely nailed the Venn diagram graphics - template on the final slide in case it is of use https://t.co/Ia6120MmWp
@MrsMathematica@StudyMaths I started using D a couple of years ago as students would often add the prime factors rather than multiply them. Added benefit of being able to emphasise = sign and commutativity.
@missradders@giftedHKO Airserver is works fine in school if your wi-fi is decent. We've just got Apple TVs but have previously used it. Very cheap too. I can't remember exactly but it's less than ยฃ10.
This fascinating publication aims to develop reasoning and problem solving skills. An inspiring collection of tasks and activities including number Work, Ratio and Proportion, Algebra, Geometry, Probability and Statistics. Upper KS2, KS3 KS4 https://t.co/gnuLLNxsjx
We're delighted to announce we have set up support for the @GO4SchoolsHSL behaviour module so teachers can create a "postcard" behaviour event in GO 4 Schools which we then email out to students and parents. Full details here: https://t.co/FDRUtjhxal
Anyone else feeling super guilty about CAGs now? We tried hard to make grades comparable with previous years but the fact that it's now my grades is tough.
@ThatMathsMan I have heard of it as an idea but never come across a school that did it! I have lots of issues with merits, including the fact that they're very rarely given out fairly and may undermine intrinsic motivation. But I'm not sure I'm going to persuade anyone we don't need them!
We're looking at rebranding our current merit system to make them more valued by students. Any good ideas for names or ways of using them as an incentive?
Given the current circumstances we're offering 3 months for free with no obligation to continue after that point. Sync directly with your MIS and get sending ePostcards for free!
