We may not agree on some things, but this is important.
We cannot allow racist bigotry to be normalised, or become acceptable, at any time.
Jeremy Kyle’s language today was disgraceful. Calling it out for what it is, is the right thing to do.
Honouring the life and legacy of James Fountain—a remarkable surgeon, colleague, husband, father, and friend. He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.@BritOrthopaedic@BritishHip
I recently read that clinicians with the highest empathy levels & patient satisfaction scores are at a higher risk of burnout. They often feel immense pressure to provide care that is beyond their human limits (both physically and emotionally).
That hit hard.
@jasonryanmd Put a guy’s shoulder back in once after other people had had multiple attempts. Was much quicker than I expected (think we were just heavier than the others who tried). He sat bolt upright and shouted “WOW! That was better than sex!” in the middle of the emergency department.

Spend three minutes watching this man talk in a humane, evidence-based way about penal policy. Then realise that he is now in charge of prisons. And then feel the waves of relief wash over you.
@wesstreeting you’re at my hospital today but I’m scoping. What I would ask to save surgical training:
1: a tariff attached a case where a trainee operates
2: money from deanery to trust hypothecated
3: training fee and exam 1st sit paid for

Huge congratulations to Dr Watson!
