@SteveSkojec It's not that I disagree about how distorted it all was before. But I think that the people who choose to be "traditionalists" today tend to bring out the worst excesses of the past.
@HilarityjaneArt@japan_nobunaga The grain industry bought off the US food and health regulators and demonized meat for decades. Even the health-conscious were told that a healthy sandwich was lots of bread with just a bit of meat or cheese and no butter or oil.
@gonefishin1948 “I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church's faithful.” -JPII Ordinatio sacerdotalis. That sounds infallible. By what measure is it not?
@JackPosobiec That the pope speaks on it so often attests to him considering immigration policy to be a seriously important part of Catholic social teaching, which demands humble obedience from Catholics.
@HilarityjaneArt It takes some mixture of faith, courage, and naïveté to take vows of stability in a fundamentally unstable institution, especially one that repeatedly destabilizes and disbands its own most faithful religious orders. Lord have mercy.
@oye_bobs@OrthodoxEthos@USATrackAIPAC@banterwithb Are you saying that God’s free gift of grace is limited by 1) sufficient age with sufficient understanding, 2) sufficiently sincere repentance, 3) sufficiently sincere acceptance of Christ? It seems that ironically, you posit a works-based salvation.
@SenJohnCurtis LDS are not Christian. LDS is tri-theist, not Trinitarian. They believe The Father has a body and used to be human. They believe that Christ is an exalted creature, not the co-eternal, consubstantial only-begotten Son of God. These are not minor differences.
@highlydubiouss@SteveSkojec@DailyCaller She didn’t seem entirely surprised by the question, so I infer that she had made some reference to WWI that wasn’t shown in the clip.
@SteveSkojec I get where you are coming from. In fairness though, the RC church excommunicated Fr. Feeney for his exclusivist version of EENS. And the Orthodox priest you quote is a schismatic and a not a representative of any canonical Orthodox Church.
@SteveSkojec It follows from the distorted Satisfaction Theory of atonement. Christus Victor is the faith of the early Church and is totally incompatible with such cruel absurdities as indulgences.
