Both the podcast and Simon's words here are lovely, and ascribe a degree of smarts and clarity of mind that were beyond me at the time (and, you know, still are now)
@SimonGleave Totally agree. These early posts are so sharp and a significant contribution that predates xG etc (at least mainstream versions).
It may look totally normal now (or even outdated with no xG) having seen what would follow for the next 13 years, but it’s huge when set in time imo
@British_Airways baggage is delayed/lost - was promised it would be delivered today, heard nothing. Sent private message to this account >6 hours ago and no response
Turns out my motivation to learn Python was 'I'd like to be able to see all the beers available for takeout/delivery near me without checking the website of every brewery'. I made a website out of it, which a) was fun and b) might be useful to others in BC
https://t.co/oB59q51TcV - beers available for takeout/delivery from BC breweries listed in one sortable and filterable table so you can see them in one place rather than checking brewery webpages one at a time!
...Adopted cats. Became a citizen. Almost done Masters #2. Don't get me wrong - there were A LOT of downs in there as well, but I'm thankful to be in a pretty good place right now
Got a Masters. Travelled. Moved to a new country. PhD. Met a wonderful partner and some fantastic people I love being able to call friends. Experienced a weird and interesting range of work assignments. Hiked and biked more than 2009 me could have imagined...

@dellowhockey "the refs are going to drop the puck 'x' (15?) seconds after they blow for the icing. If you have too many/the wrong players on the ice you'll get a bench minor"
