VIRTUAL PRIDE PARADE ✨
With pride month in its final week, we wanted to kickstart a virtual parade in celebration of pride to make up for all the actual parades we missed out on this year, and also to bring a little positivity to everyone’s timeline in these difficult times.
A religious group, ‘Al Haya Min Allah’ has been distributing extremely homophobic posters at Jamia University. But @jmiu_official and Chancellor @nheptulla have failed to stop this. Members of @JamiaQC who flagged the issue are being cyber abused. @ugc_india please step in!
#JamiaMilliaIslamia | "We are not only opposing this organisation that has vilified the queer community, but we are also talking about the systemic issue within the #JMI community," said Nitin*. @Shireentwt and @SubzwariVerda report.

Delhi: In another much-debated matter a few days ago, the Jamia Millia Queer collective (JQC) claimed that 'Al-HayaMin Allah', a religious organization, had distributed pamphlets and posters inside the university campus stating "derogatory remarks" against the LGBTQ community.
"In a so-called democratic safe space, how can a faceless organisation tell us how to behave?" asked Radhika, co-founder of the @JamiaQC. @Shireentwt and @SubzwariVerda report on how a poster with homophobic messaging stirred a row in #JamiaMilliaIslamia.

When we are dealing with the prevailing homophobic environment inside the Jamia campus, a reminder of good old days - the legacy of Jamia is democratic, progressive and inclusive. We should never forget ✊🏽
@YanisIqbal We are very well aware about their hate campaign. We sincerely extend our solidarity to the women of AMU, we are in this together. Not an inch back! ✊🏳️🌈♀️
Jamia Journalism Alums Group condemns the anti-LGBTQIA+ group’s campaign and urges @jmiu_official's intervention.
We request students to stand shoulder to shoulder with the #LGBTQIA+ community to protect the inclusive ethos of Jamia.

One of the greatest achievements of AJKMCRC and Jamia Millia Islamia @jmiu_official was that one would feel safe when you entered the college. You could have opposing views and passionate debates with colleagues from across the world and still felt respected. 1/3
Jamia has taught people across the world that the fight against injustice always stands tall.
We stand against the injustice of all kinds and condemn the attacks and the anti-LGBTQIA campaign.
Jamia Millia Islamia has shaped our inclusive worldview and instilled strong progressive values in each of us. We strongly oppose attacks on anyone based on their identity-gender, sexuality, caste, class, religion, and race.
