One of the reasons ppl say they don’t know anyone with long COVID is bc they have no idea what long COVID is. Random heart attacks and strokes? Developing shingles in your 30s? New onset dementia, autoimmune diseases, neurological problems? Hair loss? That’s long COVID, baby
Which is more likely?
a) hundreds of scientists, doctors, hcw, writers, parents & activists around the world have an anxiety disorder about Covid, which is a "just a flu"
b) govts & politicians with a history of downplaying the current climate crisis are also downplaying Covid
@Ninawildflower I got that type of mask recently! I’m used to masks with one fold that clearly move from breathing when there is a seal. How do you make sure the seal is good in this one?
If no one has told you yet, I’m so proud of you for continuing to wear a mask and take precautions despite those around you that constantly try to tear you down and make you feel bad for doing so. You’re so strong and so caring. Thank you for valuing the safety of others.
@JimBob62892585@Char_ted_course@StinkRatsCharms That’s factually incorrect. People don’t become immune because covid keeps mutating, and the number of cases is very high, though there is less and less proper testing being done
Queerness is about redefining our relationships to ourselves and others. This pride, I am thinking about how we are (not) showing up for our disabled/immunocompromised community members. 1/
“The far left and the far right are both too extreme”
Far left opinion: everyone deserves a place to live, enough food to eat, and free health care as the bare minimum
Far right opinion: everyone I’ve been taught to hate deserves to be killed
CW - Rape
“Who do you plan on calling when you’ve been raped?”
Not the cops. My rapist is a police officer. He was off duty, but is on the local force no less. I had his name and DNA when my rape kit was done. It was conveniently “lost” by the Austin Police Department
@iammo_nae@ExplainThisBob@zikrizameri Covid is causing long term health problems for 1 in ten infections. So no, it’s not less dangerous. And ppl are still dying at the same rates. And the vaccines are becoming less effective bc the virus keeps mutating but the vaccines aren’t being updated
A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year…
And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0
And paid the reviewers of the articles $0
If someone is wearing a mask in a doctors office, there is seriously no reason to remind them masks are no longer necessary. Trust me, everyone knows. Those still wearing masks *want to* be wearing them.
Many autistic people have so much anxiety because, from a young age, we’re taught that our natural differences, as well as innocent things we do for ourselves (and things we can’t do), can anger other people and result in them punishing us, even when they’re not affected by them.
