More than 1 billion people live with obesity worldwide — and the number is expected double by 2030.
@WHO has issued new recommendations on the use of GLP-1 medicines to treat obesity in adults. These medicines are powerful tools but no single drug can solve the obesity crisis.
Obesity is a complex disease requiring comprehensive, lifelong care and action across many sectors.
GLP-1s provide hope for millions around the world, and must be accessible to everyone who needs them equitably.

Your daily reminder that telling someone living with obesity to "eat less and move more"
is as unhelpful as telling someone living with type 1 diabetes to "inject more insulin"
and if you think both of those things are useful pieces of advice to give someone, PLEASE up your CPD 🙏🙏
Join us at #ECO2025 for the first-ever Patient-Led Symposium!
“Patients: The Untapped Tool in Your Toolbox” will spotlight the powerful role of lived experience as a stakeholder in the obesity and NCDs space.
Explore how patient engagement is transforming advocacy, policy, research, education, and brings the voice of the youth. Would you like to understand how to build meaningful cohesive partnerships to elevate your work?
If so, it’s time to move beyond talking ‘about patients’, and moving into creating an equal seat at the table for patients and advocates as experts in their own lived experience.
