The Mission of Jamaica to the European Union wishes to inform Jamaican Nationals travelling to the Schengen Zone in Europe of an important travel advisory.
Beginning October 12, 2025, the European Union will be launching the EES system (Entry/Exit System) for Non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay (up to 90 days within any 180-day period).
What is the EES? It is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals information when travelling to Europe.
Travellers will be required to provide data listed in their travel document(s): date and place of each entry and exit, whether they were refused entry prior and their bio-metric information (face and finger prints) to border agents. This information will be recorded and stored in keeping with the EU's data protection laws.
The EES will be rolled out progressively by each EU member state in the Schengen Zone over the next 6 months. Please ensure you ascertain with the EU Consulate granting your Schengen visa whether the country you intend to visit has implemented the EES.
For more information please consult the website of the EES https://t.co/W3bK120SLx
