Super slow on this, but this #phylogenetics work by @perryleewoodjr, @csilerlab, Rafe Brown, and me is available @PNASNews: https://t.co/WMWeOtnxup
psst: the preprint (https://t.co/94v5Q717Zx) is ez on eyes, has author/date citations, and clickable links to all the sup mat
We're excited about this new #phylo work out of the lab with @perryleewoodjr, @csilerlab, and Rafe Brown.

@jeetsukumaran I'm (usually) pretty code about putting sources in my code, and I don't see any, so I think I hacked this one out myself. Note, the stackoverflow post you link to is for *integer* partitions, which is different from the set partitions (only number/size of subsets; no membership)
@jeetsukumaran I think this was the important bit (first sampling the number of subsets weighted by the number of partitions with that number of subsets): https://t.co/tiqTVXgKhv
@jeetsukumaran Here's a comment in the tests that explains what `split_weight` does: https://t.co/dVJUM9CnbN
It took me a while to figure how to do this without rejection sampling. Sorry for the poorly documented code!
Jeremy Beaulieu (U Tennessee) and Brian O'Meara (U Arkansas) will be giving the next talk in our sequel series on birth-death identifiability on Tuesday, February 21 at 9:00 AM PST with a talk entitled "Diversification analyses: what can we do, and what should we do?"
Excited to share the first preprint of my PhD with @trvrb, @nicfelm, and @AlisonFeder! We detect boundary-driven growth by analyzing patterns in tumor trees. https://t.co/nPqOyNS6kE 1/13
I'm hiring 2 postdocs for 4-years and 1 PhD Student for my @ERC_Research project. The positions are in paleo-phylogenetics and computational phylogenetics. See https://t.co/PJ2o58YhWu. Contact me for more info.
It's that time again; !OPEN CALL! Do you work with 'SPECIMENS'? I want to learn about what you do and speak to you for my podcast. Tell me your job title and how specimens fit into your work. Please RT 🌿🧬🌎
Something that's been quite useful this week is @rdpeng's absolutely steller book on advanced statistical computing (online for free!) — covers optimization, EM, rejection and importance sampling, MCMC, all with a mix of clear maths and applied R examples. https://t.co/2bOq1RlCBH
9/8 If you are curious, I figured out how to delete the running service and my account (i.e., did their job for them). @awscloud if you want to send me a bill, I'll be sure to send you one for the hours I've wasted on this nonsense.
8/8 Hey @awscloud, is the call coming from inside the house? I can only think of 2 explanations: either you have no control over your own systems or you are milking old dormant accounts.
