When we realized blockchain could enable settlement in seconds, not weeks, everyone was surprised. Even the regulators.
Sandy Kaul recalls the early days of building onchain at @FranklnTempletn on the Block by Block podcast with @DenelleDixon, CEO of @StellarOrg.
Zipper (Protocol 27) is now live on Mainnet.
The protocol upgrade introduces authentication delegation for custom accounts and address-bound smart contract address credentials.
We talk a lot about openness, but why does it matter?
Open networks allow developers to build configurable privacy solutions that institutions and organizations can actually use.
@DenelleDixon made the case for open networks with @DefiantNews and @RektHQ.

🚀 Stellar Holds 9x More Tokenized Assets Than XRP — Yet XRP Is Worth 11x More 💰
While XRP and Stellar (XLM) have spent years pursuing the same mission—modernizing cross-border payments and bringing real-world assets (RWAs) onto the blockchain—their paths are now diverging in a surprising way.
On one hand, XRP remains one of the world's largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. On the other, Stellar has emerged as the clear leader in tokenized real-world assets, hosting nearly nine times more on-chain value than the XRP Ledger.
This raises an important question for investors: Will Stellar's dominance in tokenization eventually translate into higher demand for XLM? 🤔
💎 XRP Still Dominates by Market Cap
Looking strictly at valuation, XRP is in another league.
📊 Current market capitalizations:
💰 XRP: approximately $66 billion
⭐ Stellar (XLM): approximately $6 billion
That means XRP is worth roughly 11 times more than Stellar.
Neither asset is currently near its all-time highs, as both have pulled back alongside the broader crypto market. Stellar has experienced an even steeper decline in recent days.
However, market capitalization reflects investor sentiment—not necessarily real-world network usage.
🌍 Stellar Is Crushing XRP in Real-World Asset Tokenization
When it comes to Real World Assets (RWAs), Stellar is far ahead.
According to https://t.co/GZB19ThZDW:
✅ Stellar hosts around $3 billion in tokenized assets.
✅ The XRP Ledger hosts approximately $330 million.
That's about nine times more tokenized value on Stellar than on XRP Ledger.
Even more impressive:
📈 Stellar's tokenized assets have grown around 21% over the past month.
📉 XRP Ledger's tokenized assets have declined roughly 18% during the same period.
The gap continues to widen.
⚠️ Why XRP's Tokenization Numbers Can Be Misleading
Some reports suggest the XRP Ledger holds over $3.6 billion in tokenized assets.
The reality is more nuanced.
Most of those assets are recorded on the ledger but managed off-chain, meaning XRP Ledger primarily serves as a notary system rather than the marketplace where those assets are actively held and traded.
By contrast, Stellar's $3 billion consists of assets that are genuinely issued, held, and traded directly on-chain.
That distinction makes a significant difference when evaluating real network activity.
📊 More Projects on XRP... But Far Fewer Users
Interestingly, XRP Ledger actually supports more tokenization projects:
🔹 302 projects on XRP Ledger
🔹 68 projects on Stellar
Yet user adoption tells a completely different story:
👥 Approximately 150 holders on XRP Ledger
👥 Nearly 17,800 holders on Stellar
Despite having fewer projects, Stellar has attracted dramatically more participants.
🏦 Why Institutions Prefer Stellar
Several technical features make Stellar particularly attractive for institutional finance:
⚡ Extremely low transaction fees
⚡ Settlement in just a few seconds
⚡ Compliance features such as asset freezing and clawback capabilities
These are exactly the features large financial institutions require.
Major players already building on Stellar include:
🏛️ Franklin Templeton
🏛️ Spiko (over $1 billion tokenized on Stellar)
🏛️ WisdomTree, which has publicly cited Stellar's infrastructure and compliance capabilities as key reasons for choosing the network.
🚀 The Massive DTCC Opportunity
Perhaps the biggest catalyst came from the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
The DTCC is responsible for settling a large portion of U.S. securities transactions and safeguards approximately $114 trillion in assets.
Earlier this year, DTCC announced plans to explore issuing tokenized financial instruments directly on Stellar, including:
📈 Russell 1000 stocks
📈 Major ETFs
📈 U.S. Treasury securities
Testing is expected to continue through 2026, with broader deployment targeted for the first half of 2027.
If successful, this could represent one of the largest institutional blockchain initiatives ever launched.
🔗 Ripple Is Still Involved
Ripple isn't completely absent from the tokenization race.
Through Ripple Prime, the company participates in DTCC working groups focused on clearing and tokenization.
However, there's an important distinction:
🔹 Ripple contributes to the infrastructure behind the scenes.
🔹 Stellar is positioned to host the actual issuance and circulation of tokenized securities directly on its blockchain.
That could prove to be a major competitive advantage over time.
🤔 Will RWAs Drive Demand for XLM?
Today, tokenized assets represent roughly half of Stellar's total market capitalization.
For XRP, tokenized assets account for only around 0.5% of its valuation.
In other words, RWAs have become one of Stellar's core value propositions, while they remain only a small part of XRP's broader ecosystem.
The key question remains:
Will Stellar's rapid growth in tokenized assets eventually create sustained demand for XLM itself?
The answer isn't guaranteed. Hosting tokenized assets doesn't automatically increase the value of a blockchain's native token. Future price appreciation will depend on transaction activity, institutional adoption, network economics, and how essential XLM becomes within this expanding ecosystem.
📌 Final Thoughts
📈 XRP remains the clear leader in market capitalization.
🌍 Stellar is the clear leader in real-world asset tokenization.
As institutional adoption accelerates—and especially as the DTCC moves forward with its blockchain initiatives—the coming years could determine whether Stellar's leadership in RWAs ultimately translates into stronger demand for XLM, or whether XRP continues to dominate investor attention despite its smaller footprint in tokenized assets.

ALL EYES ON G7. ALL EYES ON RIPPLE. ALL EYES ON XRP.
A quantum migration shouldn't force you to re-issue tokenized assets or re-paper every system that references your accounts.
On Stellar, the account will keep its address and history. Only the signing key changes while the holdings and integrations around them stay put.

Today, MoneyGram is launching MGUSD, a native U.S. dollar stablecoin built on the strength of that foundation 💪🏻
MASSIVE: Stellar CEO Denelle Dixon says: “Our network was built for this moment.”
As DTCC moves toward bringing $30,000,000,000,000 tokenized securities onto Stellar.
"XLM won't play a role in DTCC tokenization." 🤡
Wrong.
Every asset on #Stellar needs stellar:native reserves to exist.
Every transaction burns stellar:native.
Every trade routes through stellar:native on the native DEX.
$100,000,000,000,000 in → Reserves, Fees, Routing → Relentless stellar:native demand.
