Such a wrench to say farewell to this floating home, but, as @Jo_Bell says in her poem 'How to live on a boat', we are...
"mindful of
one need
which can be met
by moving on;
and always
buoyant"
Today we said goodbye to Fiodra, the big red canalboat that has been our exhibition space, party venue, mindfulness retreat, jam stall, café, cinema, concert hall, art gallery, classroom, adventure holiday companion and sometime home for just over seven years.
@CanalRiverTrust Hi, there's an ancient boat seemingly loose next to bridge 32 (Cowley Bridge) on the Shropshire Union, causing a bit of a hazard to shipping! Should we report it anywhere else?
Why would you deprive children of museum and theatre trips? And leave it to the middle and upper classes?! Jam making is not a preserve of the upper classes either. (No pun intended) Certainly outside of London it isn’t. 🤷🏼♀️

I wish I remembered Elms. They must still have been a feature of the landscape in my early childhood, but I didn't know, then, to take notice...
Both of these paintings of the tall Elm trees bordering the garden in Iver Heath/Bucks, where he grew up, are by Paul Nash (1889-1946)
For no particular reason, I’ve been thinking a lot today about that old Circassian proverb that goes öküz saraya çıkınca kral olmaz; ama saray ahır olur, or “a bullock does not turn into a king when he moves into the palace; the palace turns into a barn”
Things have just got a lot more difficult . Here’s what I think . I had no control over what just happened . None . But I do have control over how I will react to it . And I am not going to give up on the beautiful and the good , the grip on my dreams just got tighter .
