@Officialwhyte22 You can even create a file with the same name while another process still uses the older file. That is a very useful tecnique to replace a file without risking other processes reading corrupted data. I would not say it "stays alive in memory", though. It's still on the disk.
@levelsio I think this is s bad example. Nothing in the first photo is missing in yours. It's just a different camera/time of day/settings. Your photo is as "lying" as theirs, IMHO
@dannymoerkerke I'm on 17.4 (21E217) but PWAs on the Homescreen still open in Safari (not standalone mode). Do they need to be added again to the Homescreen?
@dannymoerkerke IIRC, persistent storage is/was only available for "home screen apps" (always has been). But yes, in the EU that means no persistent storage in any way, sadly
@JurgenOnland@firt Same here (in Italy). I was on 17.4 beta 2 and had experienced the non-working PWA problem. Today the PWA suddenly started as desired in full-screen and all data was still there. Note that I had the phone switched off completely since th last test. Will try Beta 3 soon...
@firt never mind, sorry, didn't notice that it opened from the homescreen icon to a private surfing tab. Switched to normal surfing and the storage persists, even if https://t.co/oWv4k4RxqD.persist() continues to return false
@firt I'm also noticing that persistent storage stopped working. My app won't work offline anymore and https://t.co/oWv4k4RxqD.persist() always returns "false" (usage is at 5% of quota). Strange..
