@tojulius As you‘ve outlined before - events must turn into media companies. BUT - at these rates you won‘t find good people to produce valuable content which in turn creates less corporate ROI and less event brand value.
@tojulius@MartyFullardUAE We do see that larger event brands have improved at executing all-year content. I haven’t seen dedicated program items catering to a digital audience of a live event. It may also be based on that traditional marketing departments have reverted to an “old normal”.
@tojulius@MartyFullardUAE Totally agree. But at the same time we haven’t really seen much of a “new hybrid normal”. What we did work with are other digital additions such as smart cameras analyzing audience sentiment, AI-based event co-pilots and advances in event apps with a significant uptake in usage.
@MartyFullardUAE@tojulius That I agree with. As we’re focussed on startup areas on trade shows as well as events for tech and innovation, I’m sure my view on the industry is limited. I wonder if there’s a case to be made on the repurposing of commercial real estate for event locations to lower venue cost?
@MartyFullardUAE@tojulius In the trade shows we work with we don’t see a decline at all. Shows are increasing visitor numbers, can’t see perma-crisis. Rather full post-pandemic comeback. Even making a lot of hybrid formats obsolete, since companies enjoy in-person experiences foremost.
@tojulius Events are not bound to specific industry players, which make them somewhat recession proof. As long as an industry is not dying as a whole, there will allways be winning market players having events in their marketing mix. Driving better relationships.
@EvrybodynthrMom@chamath The mass market will always be happy to use services in exchange for data provision. When the product is “free” - the user is the product by providing such data and is in fact already “selling” the data.
@chamath Is there a framework of what makes data valuable in a scalable business context? Data on niche diseases won’t possess high market value due to market size. What type of data is collected now, that solves massive future problems?
@chamath A question in this context is how companies are being affected in capex. Publishing houses may reduce capex by switching to AI-based content creation. Will the traditional player capture that value, or being too slow to act on new market constraints, be overtaken by new players?
@theficouple I really don‘t get this concept at all. The company should compensate workers adequately and not rely on customers to take care of that. Any company that is generating profit but underpays service workers in fact hides operating costs. Tips are supporting this awful behavior.
@svpino More information does not equal more or even better education. How you make information actionable and turn ignition to constant action will drive education.
