@campbellclaret @DarringtonSibyl Why aren’t the government buying #Evusheld for the #immunocompromised who are still not protected from #Covid. They are abandoned for another year and can’t get a voice to speak up for them. 500K + families still #Shielding! Even the petition suspended

In France the Government is telling people energy consumption needs to be reduced by 10% this winter to prevent black-outs. People are being asked to set their thermostats at no higher than 19 degrees centigrade & to take care with energy use. Responsible government.
Boris "delivered" the biggest fall in the pound since 1984.
The most food banks Britain has ever had. The biggest divide between rich and poor. I could go on...
@RichardJMurphy Didn’t you mean outside the EU here, not outside Brexit? Everything else in your thread seems scarily feasible .. thank you for your insights
Labour would freeze energy bills and pay for it with a windfall tax on oil and gas companies.
Only Labour is on the side of working people and struggling families. https://t.co/1aaK4hgLNu
And Classics axed too @RoehamptonUni@UoRClassics - a travesty. The staff had done so many innovative things to make Classics relevant & exciting. As an ex university careers adviser, I know that humanities graduates can go on to amazing careers - @AGCAS please speak out!
So sad to see what’s happened to the Humanities depts. at my nearby unversity, Univ of Roehampton - English, History, Philosophy - all axed in one fell swoop. The university has lost such amazing talent - here’s one example - @UR_ECW and @NCRCL
After 15 years working with the wonderful people of @UR_ECW and @NCRCL, tomorrow I'll be leaving Roehampton. I've been privileged to work with such incredible students and colleagues, and will miss this special community so much. But I'm looking forward to new adventures.
Devastating news. We / society need humanities and the skills set they develop more than ever .. widespread fears about student debt - understandable; utilitarian focus on employability after graduating as central plank of gov policy? We are throwing out baby with the bath water
