We are trained from our youth against suffering of any kind and some of us (even me, a cradle Catholic!) may not be sure how to approach this concept. What tools are we even given to begin to comprehend and embrace redemptive suffering?

Though the world frequently tries to convince us that we are valued only for what we can produce, the #Gospel reminds us of the truth of life: we are loved by God.
@FrHarrison It was Ezekiel who consoled me in the daily Mass readings when I was in one of my most broken states.
Yet it still is a double-edged sword, for his words can slice through my own pride like a hot knife through butter.
CONSTANT VIGILANCE! Or so I've been told.
@MrsDoubleshot Amazing. We are going to try this. We've primarily had it as the recipe my Quebecois in-laws made and gave it to me, as the traditional pie (NO BEEF! it vehemently tells me). I've put it on pizza before which is fantastic. We've had it as an addition to poutine...
I can't wait :)
To the people around him, he was a disappointment. A disgrace. How could God’s anointed one die in such a shameful way? God could never stand for such shame.
His followers were fools. We are fools.

@FrHarrison I was -just- thinking about this the other day. Was that a daily reading recently? I can't imagine myself just opening up to Ecclesiastes for a random reflection right now. OH! ha, I just realised it's in one of my texts this term. nm 😅😅
@franciscanmom That was what I said, too. It points to a need to accommodate people's needs so that more can participate fully.
At the least, it shows that they WANT to participate actively! That's a good thing, if misdirected.
I was dead set against The Cry Room. My reasoning was concrete: it promotes disunity, it segregates, it gives the impression that the parish doesn’t want kids.

@franciscanmom "cry room at a parish where I worked was taken over by elderly people who found it easier to hear inside. They then proceeded to shush the babies. Unbelievable."
@franciscanmom This seems to be pretty common. Two comments I got on another platform:
"Crying rooms/the back of the church are full of people who don't have crying children... Or children in general. Meanwhile I can't find a place to nurse my baby."
