90 years ago today, Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts attempted to march through and intimidate a predominantly Jewish area of the East End.

Men, women and children, alongside local residents, trade unionists and anti-fascist protesters, came together to defend the community in what became known as the Battle of Cable Street.

They taught us an important lesson: communities can resist fascism by joining together.

Hate and antisemitism had no place in London then, and it has no place here now.

Today on X. I tweeted about my son's death from meningococcal sepsis caused by Men C, and people are tweeting at me about how bad vaccines are. One problem: Eddie hadn't had the vaccine that might have prevented him from dying ie the Men C vaccine.

18-year-old Syrian Muslim girl Ryan al Najjar was tied up with tape and drowned in a ditch in the Netherlands by her father and brothers for being too ‘Westernized’.

When they were arrested, they defended themselves by claiming honor killings are ‘part of their culture’.

@DrInsurgent @parthaskar it depends on the context and making sure the patient understands your role in the team. I work a lot with Paeds/ families often not English first language- so I often say I am one of the ‘children’s radiology doctors’ - as ‘radiologist’ and consultant may not mean anything.

@parthaskar Completely agree and yet several F1s (and more senior) have told me they avoid introducing themselves as ‘Dr Smith’ for fear of seeming arrogant or putting a target on their back. Instead, they default to ‘John, one of the doctors.
