During our recent stakeholders' event in Rwanda, we had the opportunity to present to our key partners the impact of EADB's financing on the social and economic transformation of Rwanda.
Since the launch of the SME Program in Rwanda in 2024, EADB has disbursed cumulatively USD 33M (Rwf 48B) to partner institutions in Rwanda, such as the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD), Duterimbere IMF Plc, ASA Microfinance, AB Bank Rwanda Plc, and Letshego Rwanda.
The funding has supported SMEs in sectors such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, Commerce, Housing and Transport. This has led to the creation of over 7,000 jobs, including more than 3,000 casual jobs. 40% of the jobs have gone to women.
At the @EADB_Official Stakeholder Event in Kigali earlier today, we showcased the strong partnership with EADB. Strategic investments are driving SME growth, jobs, inclusion, and improved livelihoods, advancing the #SDGs and #Vision2050. Rwanda is committed to fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Our SME program in Rwanda aims to enhance access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across various sectors in the country.
To date, over USD 5 million has been disbursed through partner financial institutions (PFIs), enabling the program to finance 1,200 sub-borrowers and create more than 1,000 permanent jobs.
