Teachers participating in The Rural Experience in America project emphasize that rural education differs from urban settings and that misconceptions about rural communities must be addressed.
The 2023 Why Rural Matters report highlights disparities faced by 7.3 million rural students, including limited access to school psychologists, counselors, gifted programs for minority students, reliable internet, and transportation. Despite these challenges, rural educators employ creativity and community engagement to support student learning.
