I have a message for all the little girls and boys out there who dream of growing up to be superheroes: Superheroes walk among us.
They’re teachers, doctors, scientists, vaccine researchers—and you can grow up to be like them too.
Educators: this is our moment.
We’re going to make sure that every child, every school, and every educator has what they need to thrive regardless of where they live or where they come from.
We're deeply saddened to report the passing of Joanna Cole, award-winning author of the bestselling The Magic School Bus series.
Today, we honor and celebrate her incredible legacy that has inspired curiosity in science for children around the world. https://t.co/QcecEOOwCW
#WeReopenSchoolsWhen COVID-19 is under control and the safety of our teachers, administrators, students and their families is no longer up for debate.
in the meantime, wear your masks and trust the facts.
The #education of the police officers who murdered #GeorgeFloyd didn't start in a police academy. It started in kindergarten. I'm calling on my fellow teachers, particularly my fellow white teachers, to join me in reflecting on this question.

It would be ashamed if education comes out of this pandemic only to return to status quo. There hasn't been an opportunity for such sweeping changes in education for the last half century.
Less testing
More adaptability
Improved family/school partnership
Let kids learn like kids
These words & language can perpetuate negative stereotypes or assumptions, strengthen false associations between #COVID19 & other factors, create widespread fear, or dehumanise those who have the disease https://t.co/yShiCMfYF3

Penguins in the Amazon?! 🐧🌴
Some of the penguins went on a field trip to meet other animals at Shedd. Wellington seemed most interested in the fishes in Amazon Rising! The black-barred silver dollars also seemed interested in their unusual visitor.
"You may not always be your best, but you can always bring your best." Thank you @inkyjohnson for inspiring teachers today by helping us cultivate positive mindsets. #TheBigThink2019@ConfThink
I’ve worked w a LOT of kids in my past educational work.
The ones who “act up” almost always have issues at home or otherwise.
Esp when it comes to elementary students, suspension + detention can make things worse.
What kids need is healing tools+policy that helps families ⬇️
My Secretary of Education will be someone with real teaching experience, who understands how low pay, tattered textbooks and crumbling classrooms affect educators and students. Someone who understands the crushing burden of student debt and will fight back.
@WenzelCassidy A28: I had a teacher in high school who would write the problem and ask for help to solve it. Ppl would suggest steps to try and he would execute every suggestion. If s/t was not possible, he would start over and try again with us. This is a good way to model and collaborate
@Nicole34141982 @WenzelCassidy I agree Nicole! Having parent teacher conferences where you elaborate to non-native english speakers that, theoretically, math is universal (x+y=z regardless of where you are in the world) eliminates the fear that they may not be able to help their child in solving math problems
