AI can help us build products faster. But without human oversight, it can also introduce errors that directly impact usability.

While teaching a group of German students using Figma for the first time, one student got stuck because the Scroll behavior options didn't make sense.

It wasn't just a bad translation.

Figma's documentation translates these terms correctly. Only the product UI doesn't:

Fixed → Behoben ("repaired") instead of Fixiert
Sticky → Notiz ("sticky note") instead of Haftend

The German is grammatically correct. The meaning isn't.

@karrisaarinen This should be in the article. Super important statement! There have always different perspectives on what design is (for them). With the current evolution of generative tools the impression of 'output is design' is just amplified. And a lot of people benefit from this impression

@hobdaydesign I would say there are different kinds of inspiration you can get and so sources can differ, e.g. very direct visual inspirations (e.g. for a gradient from a natural phenomenon or an object), behavioral (e.g. gamification from games, real and digital, to fitness apps) etc.

@Stefan_Hajek Ich bin kein Freund der Bild, aber hier geht es vermutlich viel weniger darum, was BILD selber denkt. Sondern vielmehr darum, wie sich BILD Leser fühlen sollen und das Auslösen eines bestimmten Effektes, den man hier in den Kommentaren ganz gut beobachten kann. ;)
