People are arguing past each other in regards to the "fascism is coming" vs "fascism is already here" point. Fascism has always been here just unequally applied across populations.
Nobody serious really disputes what Israel is doing any more, and so the key political dividing line that has emerged this year is btwn people who believe that oppression and genocide are never acceptable vs those who believe that these are actually ok in certain circumstances.
Und dabei haben die bürgerlich-demokratischen Parteien doch wirklich alles dafür getan, um den Wähler*innen zu beweisen, dass sie die gleiche Politik auch in rot, schwarz, gelb oder grün bekommen könnten
What I'm about to say comes from doing literally thousands of talks in front of literally hundreds of people over the years but it's a generalization and not true in every case.
People with egos who have the undivided attention of an audience talk about themselves a lot as if they're helping you somehow.
People who actually want to help you talk about you and to you.
There is quite a big difference but it's hard to see it. The viewer also has a role to play because it's easy to fall into "celebrity" or "worship" mindsets while you watch and listen.
What has been consistent for decades in American politics, across the spectrum, is this: the erasure of the Palestinians. The cancelation of Palestinian and pro Palestinian voices. The complete indifference to the plight of the Palestinian people, at home and abroad.

What a beautiful, beautiful piece of writing from @jimmyhmiller.
"In my career since, I've never had the privilege of working in such a wonderfully ugly codebase."

While the media’s attention was fixed on celebrities flaunting expensive gowns at the lavish Met Gala, Palestinians in Rafah faced heavy carpet-bombing and more ruthless slaughter by Israel
The post-9/11-style generalized Islamophobia and bloodlust coming from people I thought I respected this week has been unbelievably shocking and jarring.
