Emily Henry on Phoebe Dynevor being cast as January Andrews in the movie adaptation of Beach Read:
“We couldn’t have gotten luckier than we have with Phoebe. She has everything we need, in spades, and I cannot wait for you to see how perfect she is.”
I always feel bad that I’m so negative about adaptations bc it’s probably an author’s dream to see their work adapted, but for me it’s my biggest nightmare as a reader because no exec or producer loves or respects the source material
i think it’s important to make plans for each day or week because having something to look forward to gives us a little excitement to get through the day, so when something bad happens, they won’t mean much, because we knew something good is waiting for us at the end of it.
imposter syndrome and being a writer sucks so bad especially when i mfing graduated with a masters in english its like all that time i spent researching and writing has led to nowhere how can i NOT write at all 😭

@seelie_savant Thanks for this! As an author, I can’t tell you how many folks have tried to push me to make my writing more “Asian”—by which they mean what THEY think is Asian. The industry is majority white.
But Asian Am lit is so diverse (& I urge ppl to read more queer books for example)
frankly the industry also encourages Asian Americans to write identity slop simoly because they are Asian. Also, this line of writing is so 2010s, a lot of newer authors have moved on from this
I sold a book to Penguin Random House UK! My debut young adult romantic thriller THE ONE comes out July 2, 2026.
Perfect for fans of LOVE ISLAND, THE BACHELOR, & FIVE SURVIVE

Whitewashed heathcliff, removed the racist undertones of the story, made a victim of abuse look like a willing participant and turned the abuse into some bdsm type shit... Is it an "English major being annoying" thing or are y'all just defending a problematic, tone-deaf movie?
