Pojďme si říct, o čem se včera skutečně hlasovalo:
👉🏻 Evropský parlament nehlasoval o tom, jestli chránit děti. Na tom se shodneme všichni.
👉🏻 Hlasovalo se o tom, jestli znovu otevřít cestu k tzv. „Chat Control“, tedy k plošnému skenování soukromé komunikace milionů občanů.
👉🏻 A většina europoslanců tuto cestu bohužel znovu otevřela.

Proto nerozumím kolegům, kteří dnes tvrdí, že jsou proti plošnému skenování soukromých zpráv, ale včera hlasovali pro to, aby se právě tento návrh znovu projednával. Tyto dvě věci spolu jednoduše nejdou dohromady.

Zítra přijde rozhodující hlasování. Teprve to ukáže, kdo skutečně hájí právo na soukromí a kdo je ochoten otevřít dveře největšímu zásahu do digitálních svobod za poslední roky.

People living near Microsoft’s Fairwater data center in Wisconsin are suing the company, saying the facility has made life in the area much louder.

They say there’s a constant humming noise from the cooling systems and backup generators, along with dust, bright lights at night, and extra traffic from construction.

Microsoft says it is aware of the lawsuit and is working to be a good neighbor, adding that it has already made changes to reduce the noise and other issues.

Question for Podman enjoyers and @Podman_io, is there way to find out whic kernel version is included in specific tag for machine-os? I need to create podman machine with older kernel to run mongodb. How do I do that? (I figured out by bruteforce that for example this version https://t.co/bx5x63xaQN will work). But I'm not sure if that is correct way.

‼️🇪🇺 BIG TECH wants this, and it was rejected twice, but the European Parliament seems to love undermining democracy, as it votes again next week, for the third time, on reviving "chat control 1.0," the expired EU rule that let tech firms voluntarily MASS-SCAN private messages.

Per German outlet Heise, the Council's workaround is a fast-tracked new proposal with identical content, a route critics say skips a privacy watchdog opinion and lands while many MEPs are on vacation. Former MEP Patrick Breyer calls it an attempted "coup."

That said, case for 1.0 is narrower: It doesn't mandate anything and it doesn't touch end-to-end encryption directly. It restores legal cover for scanning that platforms did for years, mostly hash-matching known child sexual abuse material on unencrypted services like Gmail, Messenger, and Snapchat.
