I’ve been digging into Guangzhou lately and wow, this city is seriously impressive. Thought I’d share what stood out to me , feels like the kind of place that’s got history, insane food and big energy all at once.
Quick highlights that stuck with me:
• The place is over 2,200 years old seriously ancient roots. It was a massive hub on the old Maritime Silk Road way back when. They even call it the City of Five Goats (from some cool legend) and the City of Flowers because everything just blooms there all year round. 🌸
• Food-wise it’s next level. Birthplace of proper Cantonese dim sum, fresh seafood, crispy roast meats… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. If you ever get the chance, that’s the spot for real yum cha. 🍤🥟
On the money side, it’s a beast:
• In 2025 the GDP was around ¥3.204 trillion (roughly US$461 billion) and still grew 4% even with everything going on globally. It’s right in the heart of the Pearl River Delta and that whole Greater Bay Area push.
Plus it’s home to some seriously big names:
• GAC Group (Guangzhou Auto) – they’re killing it with electric cars these days 🚗
• Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings (sits around 406 on the global Fortune list)
• Guangzhou Municipal Construction Group (~455)
• Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings (~459)
• And XPeng Motors – those smart EVs are popping up everywhere now ⚡

Still here in Beijing, wrapping up this business exploration trip. it’s February 2026 and the place is absolutely humming with energy right now.
As an entrepreneur who’s always looking for where the real action is, I can’t get over how fast things are moving in humanoid robotics and embodied AI. Just last month (end of January), they launched Beijing’s first pilot-scale test platform for humanoid robots right here in E-Town (Yizhuang) the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics set it up with full production lines across five floors, already cranking out small batches and prototypes. They’ve got capacity aiming for thousands of units annually, bridging that classic gap from lab demos to actual factory output. Walked parts of Yizhuang and Zhongguancun, and the clusters are insane over 300 robotics companies packed in, with names like Unitree pushing hard after their big Spring Festival Gala moment where robots did full kung fu routines, flips, and synchronized performances that went mega-viral. Orders surged post-Gala, delivery dates pushing out, and Unitree’s talking 10-20k shipments this year alone.
Xi’s visit earlier this month to the National IT Innovation Park in Yizhuang (his first domestic trip of 2026) hammered home the priority—self-reliance in core tech, “new quality productive forces,” all tied into the fresh 15th Five-Year Plan kickoff. It’s not just speeches; you see the funding, the incentives, the policy muscle making it happen.
Still chasing meetings across districts people are direct, open to real talk about partnerships, joint ventures, or even plugging into the ecosystem if your startup hits AI agents, robotics, advanced manufacturing, or anything frontier. The execution speed here is wild: ideas move to prototypes to pilots frighteningly quick.

The hospitality’s been great folks genuinely want to connect and build. Still got a couple days left to squeeze in more convos before heading out.

Wow, I’m still buzzing from today at the Diaspora Summit 2025 here in Accra! 🇬🇭🔥
I couldn’t believe I was in the same room as Attorney Benjamin Crump the man who’s fought for justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Trayvon Martin, and so many others. When he spoke on the reparations panel with Dr. Julius Garvey and the others, it hit different. He said, “We are one people. No one can divide us but us. No one can unite us but us.” Chills, literally.
He talked about walking through the Door of No Return and Door of Return at Cape Coast Castle with his wife, and quoted Nkrumah: “I am not African because I was born in Africa, but because Africa was born in me.” I felt that in my soul.
And then President Mahama had the whole hall singing that old childhood song “Kyekyekule” together everyone was smiling, clapping, feeling connected. The energy was pure magic.
This summit isn’t just talks – it feels like the start of something real. Healing, unity, reclaiming what’s ours. If you’re part of the diaspora, this one’s for us

Just back from the Africa Summit in Accra and feeling inspired! 🌍✨

Leaders from across Africa and the diaspora shared bold ideas for the future: an African Central Bank, a common currency, a unified payment system, and the Africa Millennium Fund. These initiatives could completely transform how we trade, invest, and grow together as a continent.

What really hit me was the focus on collaboration and action. Africa’s future is bright when governments, businesses, and individuals work together building opportunities, empowering youth, and driving real change. Excited to see what’s next!

Most people don’t know that Tesla has had an advanced AI chip and board engineering team for many years.

That team has already designed and deployed several million AI chips in our cars and data centers. These chips are what enable Tesla to be the leader in real-world AI.

The current version in cars is AI4, we are close to taping out AI5 and are starting work on AI6. Our goal is to bring a new AI chip design to volume production every 12 months. We expect to build chips at higher volumes ultimately than all other AI chips combined. Read that sentence again, as I’m not kidding.

These chips will profoundly change the world in positive ways, saving millions of lives due to safer driving and providing advanced medical care to all people via Optimus.
