The @huggingface / @OpenAI saga is a great read.

The labs have different versions of the same model with varying “guardrails,” but all parties regardless of trust or network identity are served the same nerfed model.

Network identity is a simple product solve, such that @huggingface team (a known trusted party) being served the same mass model version that is too nerfed to distinguish attacker from defender is….like…. a glaring and even odd product defect.
