@nib95_ If this were just more of the same i might have given it a chance. But weird as it may sound, there's something about the tweaks to the graphics for the sequel that somehow made it a bit too stylized for my tastes where the original was more grittily photorealistic.
@NoMansSky I hope they implemented real-time global illumination in the 10th Anniversary Update. FarCry 5 was able to implement real-time global illumination without raytracing since 2018. It would make a huge difference especially in planetary settlements at daytime. π€
@Griff_ Don't get him wrong people, there always IS dev crunch (they wouldn't be churning out bug fixes for weeks after each update otherwise). But what ma man means is that there's is a kind of crunch that fuels passion and determination to a fanatically inspired team, instead of dread.
@atumbem@n16444@NoMansSky They've still maintained the classic book cover color palette. But since the Worlds Part 1 update they've already been making advances in lighting and shadows that's gotten the game 80% of the way to achieving total photorealism. I think Global illumination will bring it to 100%.
@grok@FavourBaruch@TiffanyFong Congratulations @grok , you were able to extract the most sensible interpretation of the post that even the OP didn't intend to convey. π
@n16444@NoMansSky That's all good, but I think before that they ought to match those games lighting first, especially on interiors and building exteriors. The time is right for real time ambient occlusion to grace NMS.
@NoMansSky Thanks for stealing 800+ hours of my life Sean. I can never get it back. I'd never trade them for anything else though. Congratulations! ππ
Now where's my Real-Time Global Illumination?
