i recognize that NYC gets a lot of flak from the rest of DSA, some of it warranted and some of it not. local-only membership is on a totally different level from anything else. splitting local and national membership is an existential threat to our entire project. it’s shameful.
Either Zohran goes it his own and gets criticized or he, as a member of our movement, acknowledges his lack of knowledge and works with DSA leaders (and for some reason also gets criticized) to get it right. Is this not what we want from our electeds? To collaborate with us?
After 47 years, Jerry has made the difficult decision to step down from the company we built together. I’m sharing his words as he resigns from Ben & Jerry’s. His legacy deserves to be true to our values, not silenced by @MagnumGlobal#FreeBenAndJerrys
HASAN PIKER "I try to redirect people’s anger and resentment to systemic problems because I’m a leftist, I’m a Marxist, I’m a socialist, and therefore I believe that everything still comes back to material conditions. And that’s what people’s anger and resentment are born out of: deteriorating material conditions and hopelessness that is instilled upon them because they don’t see a hopeful future."
Nazis are fascists but ironically IRL can be very welcoming & accommodating, hence they are able to effectively radicalize ppl. They show more empathy IRL in spaces they’re recruiting in than these DSA ppl ever have. It’s abhorrent, and another reason the “left” has zero power.
@ydsTrey I think it also includes that we had to complete trainings that gave basic best practices to use when we set our chapters that regular chapters just don’t have to do. Also considering most YDSA chapters are campaign oriented, there’s a much greater collaborative orientation
