@BenLesh@rescriptlang@swyx Drawbacks include getting up to speed on functional programming (if not already there), some early confusion with currying by default, and tooling not quite being up to par yet (TS surfaces better real-time in-editor warnings - ReScript gives clearer compiler errors).
@BenLesh@rescriptlang@swyx Language benefits I like include guaranteed type safety, variants & pattern matching, pipelines. Considerable compiler optimizations are nice too including significant inlining and extremely fast compile and recompile times.
@BenLesh@rescriptlang@swyx Quite a few disparate opinions here. But from my experience with pure JS, Flow, TypeScript, and now ReScript, the latter provides the most real-world benefit. It’s not a superset of JavaScript, but a functional, type-safe language.
@wycats It would be tough to make this determination without first-hand experience. That’s like a firefighter wondering why we pay full time SREs when sites almost never go down.
🎥 @jasonaden1 explained at #ngconf2017 how to package @angular apps - are you still doing it this way? What do you think has improved since then?

It's almost time for #ngconf2019! Be sure to get your tickets in time! 👉https://t.co/p3xJbedOXp
You simply can't stop him 🔥! @nate_lapinski is watching all developments with #Angular Router and is quick to share new stuff coming up in v7. Today it's "Improved Navigation in Angular 7 with switchMap" https://t.co/I2mkQsa5Xz #webdev#javascript
A new gem has arrived! In his new article @nate_lapinski who reverse-engineers #Angular Router talks about updates in v7.1. He explains the motivation, use cases and shows the usage. For most curios he even included PR links! https://t.co/KyNh65KUIc #javascript#webdev@angular
For all the #rxjs devs out there.
Do you think it would be helpful to add a section to the docs where we compare similar operators, e.g. switchmap & flatmap or *map in general
I'm really curious wether this would help devs to get into rxjs 👩💻
Votes and RTs appreciated! ❤️
@myspivey @BenLesh When you need to perform side effects, don't care about the result, but you need to wait for it to complete. In this case it's in Angular's router where we fire some hooks that may have async operations to be waited on, but the result is ignored.
