@nicktatonetti @_noahzim_ One expansion opportunity for the paper/presentation is around the opportunity to use NFTs for the contractual mechanism of sharing, e.g. https://t.co/gFFibGDtC1
Sobering to think of the possibility that we might one day be grateful that these early waves were scrimmage matches that gave us time to tool-up, should a future variant have mortality rates on par with say SARS1 (10%).
So when I tell you we are lucky that Mother Nature gave us a practice virus to learn on with all of the #CovidVariants to date, listen to me. We have to stay humble & recognize that if we abandon masks now, we are giving this virus a mindboggling # of chances to mutate. /18
@kulesatony@bernatolle@jayebgoldstein We know that guinea pigs get tick resistance from repeated tick bites in lab. Do humans? Rumor is yes, but hasn't been shown experimentally. Idea is that there are some people with history of tick bites that generate an antibody response that blocks ability of ticks to feed well
@kulesatony@bernatolle@jayebgoldstein That NYer article does a nice job on promise of Lyme vax. One thing it misses: idea of a tick vaccine which might help prevent multiple infections in one swoop if it confers "tick resistance" e.g. ticks can't feed properly. see preclinical work here: https://t.co/Vvqxgh73Od
@macroliter@ImmunoFever@sarahzhang superbly written by @sarahzhang Some of my favorite details surfaced are the "Pupamobile", Michael Jackson is the pilot screwworm plane, history of the scientific name C. hominivorax (man eater)
Itβs the end of the beginning for #SyntheticBiology. This pic of a grey-haired π€ @DrewEndy wearing an @iGEM 2006 shirt looking at $DNA banner did it for me. Proud @Ginkgo sent up a flare, but we are a big community in #synbio and the world is about to take notice. Weβre ready.π§΅
The multiyear, multiphase competition will incentivize the development of next-generation diagnostics, with the ultimate goal of an FDA-approved, direct diagnostic test.

@ahandvanish .@ahandvanish I forgot to mention the awesome paper by @abhishekpratap that looked at attrition in 8 app-based studies across 100k participants: https://t.co/hTaTrYLXLt Median retention across 8 studies = 5.5 days. Survival curves in Fig2 are sobering.
@ahandvanish This phenomenon in digital health research has a name: "the law of attrition." https://t.co/rypwmKsymd. Dates back to early "e-research" but also applies to modern app-based research. While "law" is strong word, likely still at least the rule.
