Think globally. Develop locally. Everything we use comes from the Earth. Minerals/oil in your phone, power to run it, wires to get it to you, even trees for postcards some write to protest their development. If we don’t develop them here, then where? Happy Earth Day #TGDL#Alaska
As Chair of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation Board of Trustees, I’m honored to help lead this institution as it marks its 50-year legacy. Today, the Fund’s market value tops $88 billion. https://t.co/udnLYVFzUr
Festive Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation Board of Trustees meeting today, with trustees and staff rocking their finest ugly Christmas sweaters.
Grateful for the dedication and professionalism of APFC staff and my fellow trustees, and for the opportunity to serve Alaskans.
Major kudos to @AlaskaDEC for providing the facts behind Alaska’s stringent environmental regime and the Outside funding that continues to spread misinformation in Alaska: https://t.co/SYtX2tWmHF
"It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Trustee Samuels to the Board," said APFC Board Chair Jason Brune. "Ralph’s dedication to Alaska, shaped by years of public service in the Legislature and seasoned by success in the private sector, will be an invaluable asset to our work. We look forward to the leadership, insight, and commitment Trustee Samuels will bring to the Board. The Trustees also wish to express our gratitude to Craig Richards for his eight years of service and wish him our best.”
Today I appointed Ralph Samuels to the Board of Trustees for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation. He is a lifelong Alaskan with an innate understanding of our state’s business and political landscape. As a Trustee he will bring that experience and insight to managing Alaska’s sovereign wealth fund not only for today, but for future generations of Alaskans.
It’s awesome to be back at the @alaskardc Annual Conference, celebrating 50 years of growing Alaska through responsible resource development.
As a former Executive Director of RDC, I’ve seen firsthand the power of collaboration between industry, Alaska Native Corporations, labor, and local communities to ensure responsible development of Alaska's incredible natural resources (oil, gas, copper, zinc, gold, silver, graphite, coal, timber, fish, tourism, and I could go on).
Tomorrow, I’ll have the honor of moderating a panel featuring several RDC alumni, leaders who have carried the torch forward in different eras and sectors, each contributing to Alaska’s ongoing story of innovation, stewardship, and resilience.
Congratulations to RDC on 50 years of impact, and here’s to the next 50 of advocating for Alaska’s future! #TGDL
Been watching football a long time. That's the worst targeting call I've ever seen in my entire life. Pathetic. This game has gotten soft. Even with the refs against us, go Huskers! #GBR
I am humbled to have been re-elected as Chair of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation’s Board of Trustees at our Annual Meeting this week in Anchorage. It is a privilege to serve alongside my fellow Trustees, our dedicated APFC staff, and our investment advisors in this mission. Together, we are committed to protecting and growing Alaska’s greatest financial asset for today and tomorrow.
At this meeting, the Board reaffirmed the importance of advancing a constitutional amendment to establish a single-fund endowment model, an essential step to ensure predictability, protect the Fund’s value from inflation, and align Alaska with global best practices.
What makes this moment especially significant is the unanimity across all voices guiding the Fund: each of our four public Trustees, our three independent investment advisors, and our performance consultant all identified this as the most urgent and critical issue to address in order to safeguard Alaska’s Fund and ensure predictability of its value for generations to come.
Ensuring this amendment passes will require action next session, and I urge Alaskans to contact their legislators so together we can protect the Fund’s value and Alaska’s future.
The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation Board of Trustees Annual Meeting is underway today and tomorrow, October 1–2, 2025, at the Anchorage Marriott Hotel.
As Chair of the $88 billion Alaska Permanent Fund, I’m honored to lead these discussions and encourage broad public engagement. You’re welcome to join us in person, watch the livestream, or share your perspectives with the Board at [email protected].
The Permanent Fund belongs to all Alaskans. Your voice matters!
Today’s Far Side cracked me up and brought back memories of my time working on oiled sea otters at the USFWS and, later, chairing the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council while at DEC. Hazelwood’s mistake taught Alaska lasting lessons. Since that ill-fated day in 1989, we’ve built safeguards to ensure it never happens again: double-hulled tankers, tug escorts, regular spill drills, and more.
The world still relies on fossil fuels. The question isn’t if they’re developed, but where. We’ve learned from that mistake, and Alaska is now the global standard for developing them safely and responsibly. #TGDL
Anglo American and @TeckResources announce they have reached an agreement to combine the two companies in a merger of equals to form the Anglo Teck group, a global critical minerals champion and top five global copper producer, headquartered in Canada and expected to offer investors more than 70% exposure to copper.
This is an exciting new step in the history of Anglo American, and a rare opportunity to combine two standout mining companies with highly complementary portfolios.

It’s ironic that the most insightful article about the upcoming Trump–Putin summit in Alaska came from London. This piece is excellent...I wish we had coverage like this here in Alaska/the US. I learned a lot from reading it!

My office welcomed these two hardworking interns this summer and they have been an integral part of our team with an impressive work ethic and eagerness to learn on the job.
Internship opportunities on Capitol Hill provide aspiring professionals with a first-hand window into the legislative process and the daily workings of a Congressional office - providing invaluable real workplace experience.
Happy National Intern Day!
🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
Nothing says America like a pair of stars-and-stripes socks…designed in Canada and made in South Korea! 😂
While it might seem ironic, it’s also a great reminder of what freedom looks like in action: open markets, international trade, and the global cooperation that makes even the simplest things (like patriotic footwear) possible. Tariffs on goods like these might sound patriotic, but they can raise prices on the very things we love to wear while celebrating our freedom.
Here’s to liberty, independence, open markets, and a world where you can celebrate your country with a little help from your neighbors. 'Merica!
Happy Canada Day to Alaska's closest neighbor and partner! I have great memories of working with counterparts from BC, Yukon, Alberta, & NWT in my time as DEC commissioner. Canada is also home to some of Alaska’s biggest mining investors. Cheers to our strong bond! 🇨🇦🥂🍁
