I've taught at a New England prep school for nearly 20 years. Families have been laser focused on top tier colleges, most of which are up here.

Except for a very few exceptional candidates, this has changed.

Dramatically.

There is another "great migration" happening, as a steady flow of middle and upper middle-class children of the meritocratic class have decided to go to college in the spirit of normalcy.

Now many are are headed down to the football part of the country. It'll be interesting to see how this winds up in a decade. These kids are not in a mood to tolerate NE weirdness anymore, especially since they've figured out that they are not wanted. They seem to want something normal.

I think that the Profession has outgrown the Association. So the Association needs to refocus their mission and the Profession needs to find other avenues to promote AT at the areas that need promoting, in particular SSATs.

God bless the teachers of this country! Underpaid, and unfortunately, under appreciated for a long time. Hopefully, one lesson the last 18 months has taught us is that they may be this nations most important resource.
