🙌 A huge thank you to @pivotalventures for featuring our NPR segment on "The Systemic Barriers to Landing a Big Tech Internship"! We're grateful to Pivotal Ventures for amplifying this discussion and bringing attention to the need for change. 👏 ✨ https://t.co/CIeUQ6xDy7
@AECT today. Evaluation by Design is launching our new student dashboard of skills, learning experiences, and perceptions. This is useful in reporting to funders, program leads, coaches, and learners! #AECT2022

Evaluation by Design acknowledges our team resides on the traditional land of the Confederated Villages of Lisjan and Ohlone people. We invite our bay area community to support indigenous leaders by paying your voluntary land tax to the #SogoreaTeLandTrust https://t.co/LIxYopjz8v
Evaluation can play a key role in foregrounding equity and justice challenges that programs face, and seeking solutions that don't also contribute to further inequality. If you don't ask questions about bias and injustice you will never see these, so we must continually step up.
This is an important shift in perspective that is clearly articulated, supported by research and able to demonstrate outcomes. I'm glad to be a supporter and advocate for @LastMileFund
We've talked about how this project has the potential to disrupt what Harvard philosopher Michael Sandel calls the Tyranny of Merit which plagues not just scholarships & education but all of society, as discussed here https://t.co/sRbQgOf5iy

Please vote for Last Mile Education Fund's #SXSWedu session on investing in low-income #tech & #engineering students from an #abundance approach. Help bring the voices/experiences of low-income students into the #equity conversation. https://t.co/m9mKEwSEFx
@amyjko I'd like to be included in future conversations. I have advised on CSEdResearch and led studies for Google programs, REUs, CS4HS, Last Mile Education Fund, and currently working on CSAwesome research and various CS-related research & evaluation work.
@amyjko@lisakaczmarczyk Is this process explained publicly, and was it at all valuable? I imagine you are supposed to be happy you didn't have to write the 55 page report too ;-) Any thoughts about a better evaluation approach for you in this case?
Wow @MileFund applicant referred to food, a working laptop, gas and a WARM COAT as "luxuries" - 🤦🏾 how about investing in talent rather than expecting low-income students to just survive? Pls contribute 👉🏾👩🏾💻 https://t.co/jlvYveHxis #womenintech

@amyjko I'm curious - do you think that they already know how to ask each other for help -- about the launch or otherwise? If not, is that something you could potentially encourage as part of their overall preparation for the launch and beyond?
@kellyed121 Glad it led to some good discussion. It never hurts to try to connect lessons from different studies, so thank you for the opportunity. Enjoy the conference and keep me posted about what challenges you are taking on next.
