I can think of two recent ones - Northrup Grumman pulled out of its Commercial Low Earth Orbit contract and Collins Aerospace pulled out of an even larger contract award for new space suits - happens somewhat frequently, actually. CLPS Program has also had (smaller) companies drop out.

I'm sorry, those rose colored glasses are a bit too strong for me! Desmond led the league 3 times in errors at SS, was a free-swinger who averaged 42 walks and 154 Ks per season and refused to ever take a "2 strike approach" - so he was often infuriating to watch. Espinosa led the league in strike outs in 2012 and was never consistent. Could not have been more happy and relieved in 2015 when Rizzo let Desmond walk in free agency, since he completely fell off a cliff starting in 2016...
