The doctor-patient relationship is completely different from a client-provider one. But words only carry meaning if we live up to them.
Using doctor-patient carries a responsibility. A responsibility to be more than someone who provides a service, but someone who genuinely cares.
We should welcome that duty. I am glad the APA is. Let’s go and make American medicine meaningful again.

I think kindness is most important quality in psychotherapists.
Not usually sufficient to good outcome but almost always necessary.
Real problem in psych field that kindness is so ignored in selection/training/practice.
Some of worst therapists I've known have been supersmart.
