Now that I’m pregnant that just made me so sad! We couldn’t even name our own children 😭 this is the history they don’t want discussed. America really gotta run it up for black people
My mama said my granny grew up thinking her name was one name bcuz that’s what her dad wanted to name her and called her. It wasn’t until she was older and saw “Linda” on her birth certificate.
So I was today years old when my mama told me my granny and my great aunt on her biological dad’s side were named by white nurses. Apparently it was common practice 🤯. My mama is only in her 50s, granny in her 70s 😕
So… what we doing y’all???
Because pretty soon they goin be tryna put us back in the fields.
We’re actively losing all the rights our grandparents fought for.. every single one..
We can’t just keep complaining online, we need to organize, mobilize and make a plan.
Well if nothing else the Supreme Court ruling is gonna humble some white and Asian students when they find out they still didn’t get in to their dream school and it wasn’t the fault of already underrepresented Black applicants.
“Soooo you mean to tell me that someone down your ancestry line survived being chained to other human bodies for several months in the bottom of a disease-infested ship during the Middle Passage, lost their language, customs and traditions, picked up the English language as best they could while working free of charge from sunup to sundown as they watched babies sold from out of their arms and women raped by ruthless slave owners.
Took names with no last names, no birth certificates, no heritage of any kind, braved the Underground Railroad, survived the Civil War to enter into sharecropping... Learned to read and write out of sheer will and determination, faced the burning crosses of the KKK, everted their eyes at the black bodies swinging from ropes hung on trees... Fought in World Wars as soldiers to return to America as boys, marched in Birmingham, hosed in Selma, jailed in Wilmington, assassinated in Memphis, segregated in the South, ghettoed in the North, ignored in history books, stereotyped in Hollywood... and in spite of it all someone in your family line endured every era to make sure you would get here and you receive one rejection, face one obstacle, lose one friend, get overlooked, and you want to quit? How dare you entertain the very thought of quitting. People, you will never know survived from generation to generation so you could succeed. Don’t you dare let them down!
Give this to your young people who don’t know their history and want to get weak!
It is NOT in our DNA to quit!”
We have launched our first ever baby products! Trial pack and wipes! Head over to https://t.co/74SO2midO2 to support the ONLY black owned diaper brand on the market 🐘❤🚼🤰🏾
Shocked at the comments against Stormi but then again Mel fans so far up her ass they’re delusional. Mel has “ironically” fell out w/ almost every female on this show and somehow she’s never the problem 🤦🏾♀️ #lamh
@NeziMomodu You want another friend!😂 The peace this gave me. I absolutely love an itinerary even if we don’t do everything, at least we have ideas on what we can do. Bravo 👏🏾 and enjoy Bali 🥰
Bobby Hutton was one of the original member of the Black Panther Party.
After being bombed with tear gas and trapped in a burning basement, he came out shirtless to prove he was unarmed and the police immediately shot him 12 times and he died
He was only 17 years. A THREAD!
Research shows that Black folks suffer PTSD from watching videos of Blacks being killed by police.
It’s a phenomenon called “linked fate”, where we see ourselves and loved ones in the place of the victim.
Be careful watching the Tyre Nichols murder video. Protect your mind.
