Especially as I am often expected to participate. My coworker will be like “these are the RULES” and im like well not really and also… ok? And then we don’t have anywhere to go with that conversation
A lot of Whites are very obsessed with just/unjust as a very black and white concept and I think it’s an aspect of the entitlement present in white US culture. Just from personal observation, white ppl love to dictate what’s legitimate, fair, unfair, etc
It’s what Karens are all about!! “You can’t treat me like this” and “that’s not allowed” etc etc. beyond the genuine harm it causes it is also very annoying
Even as a child, it baffled me when ppl said homeless folks shouldn’t have pets bc they’re homeless?? Like. Y’all know dogs don’t really care if they live outside right. They care if they’re abused or neglected!
One time after work years ago I bought a homeless man a subway, he then pulled his coat aside and out came this tiny grey kitty that he shared the sandwich with, despite him being hungry himself, so I ended up going into the local tescos and picked up some blankets, socks, water, food and cat food and came back to him with it, I'd never seen a human so genuinely happy, these pets save these people's lives and they will treat them better than any living person will EVER treat them.
My dad had an older half sister who had a son who is like 20 years older than the rest of the cousins and my sister calls him our uncle (i just go w “cousin”) bc “older half cousin” isn’t a thing!!!
The “aunt” who Zohran Mamdani said was too afraid to wear her hijab on the subways after 9/11 is actually a deceased distant cousin, he clarified Monday.

If I kept a valuable collectable toy in my office and it got stolen, I would ask that the cameras be checked and then I would be like well damn that’s really my own fault for not being mindful of the environment I’m in
Idk I am a social worker at a youth homeless shelter and I simply don’t keep anything even in my *locked office* that I would be this mad over. And I have decorations and stuff like that.
Context. She gave them over a MONTH to return it before filing the police report. Told them they wouldn’t face consequences if they had returned it. How y’all mad at the teacher is baffling.
A reviewer described High as Hope as “how beige, how small, how disappointing,” (a clever & mean & inaccurate callback to How Big How Blue How Beautiful) and I haven’t trusted music reviewers since.
I would never ever bring my dog inside bc ew and he’s kinda rude but I would like to be able to safely leave him outside with a lower risk of him getting loose and running into traffic.
My hot take today is that urban grocery stores should have safer infrastructure to secure dogs outside while you shop. Like just a lil fenced area or something idk.
And said “well our taxes subsidize their healthcare, it’s not wrong to want people to be healthy.” Meanwhile neither of them is exactly thin, and FIL has had 2 heart attacks. They are both scientists with advanced degrees.
Literally. Fatphobia combined with racism. Was driving my in-laws through NOLA and my MIL was scoffing at big women wearing revealing clothing. I tried to redirect, said I aimed to be comfortable & confident in my own body the way they seemed to be. In-laws scoffed more
Not an elderly woman in the world will tell a young woman that she wishes she spent more time worrying about men. A lotttt of them will tell you they wish they told more men to shut the fuck up and grow up. Just like. Putting that out there.
On the other side of that coin tho I’m very proud of my mom for letting go of any regrets bc their two career/motherhood trajectories were very similar but my mom has embraced retirement and the opportunity to dedicate her time to valuable things
One of my young adults said “What do YOU know about bein’ outside?” And I said “I was young once too, you know.” Call that cross cultural communication!
Can y’all clarify that the “eldest daughter” discourse doesn’t really apply when you have ONE younger sister with a 3 year age gap. Bc it’s giving my sister think she has justifications for her behavior that she doesn’t have!
Eating McDonald’s w my dad, he told me about dropping *all* the apple pies at the McD’s he worked at when he was a kid. He got put on parking lot duty for weeks. He was laughing at first, but then he got quiet and told me that jobs like that don’t “build character”
