I watched Trump’s speech at the Correspondents’ Dinner last night.
It’s hard to articulate how sad it made me.
Sad and embarrassed and exhausted.
Here is the thing about a man who is a joke. He can’t tell one.
People think humor is a talent. It isn’t. It’s a capacity. To make someone laugh you have to be able to laugh at yourself, and to laugh at yourself you have to step outside of yourself and see what everyone else sees. For one second you have to be just another person in the room.
Most people can do this by the time they are nine years old.
He has never once managed it. Not in fifty years of cameras. Not for a second.
That is not a quirk. It is a symptom. The muscle that lets you tell a joke is the same one that lets you feel what another person feels. A man who cannot survive being laughed at cannot imagine being anyone but himself. He will only ever be generous when it is photographed. He will only ever be kind when it is filmed.
There is a name for it.
So he stood up there and did what he always does. He hit down. He made jokes about people’s weight. He made jokes about their intelligence. He made jokes about how women look. He read out the names of people he doesn’t like, and mocked them. Always mocking. And when no one laughed he blamed his speech writers.
The cruelty dressed as humor has worn so thin.
And for the 30% of you still in the cult who will inevitably call me a crackhead and blame it all on my Dad, all I can say is please, for the love of God, open your eyes. Wake the fuck up. Have some dignity. Have some pride.
Joe Biden wasn’t standing at that podium last night. Donald Trump was.
And at the end of it he put on a red hat that said Trump 2028 and told the room he was running again. No one laughed because everyone knows he has no intention of leaving.
Just another joke at our expense.
@TakeThatNurses Big question - vinegar or mayo based? I have found that to be an issue in my OH + TX marriage, even though we're both white. My advice - mayo if southern (don't forget the sugar), otherwise vinegar. Good luck!
@phoxjohnson@wofaase_ It happens. I worked in an office with a mean abrupt lady. I responded to her in the same way she had asked a question and she actually said "what's wrong with you today." When I told her I was just matching her tone and attitude she said I was lying! 🤣

Mark Zuckerberg built a MASSIVE data center in Georgia
Just hundreds of yards from people’s homes.
Water pressure collapsed. Sinks don’t run. Toilets won’t refill. Homes shake nonstop. Power outages are common
A billionaire gets his servers — working families get steamrolled.
There's a group of people in the USA who make less than $40,000 a year, and they consistently rally against raising the minimum wage because they think it would destroy the economy. They also rally against universal health care too.
That's Stockholm Syndrome in a nutshell.
@JoJoFromJerz I said that (he won't leave) in 2015 when there was first talk about him running. I tried to warn friends & family. When he was declared the winner this time, I said that I'm just going to sit back and watch it all burn down. And that is exactly what is happening.
A police dog sniffed the shooter out while he was assembling the weapon behind a door.
The handler pulled him back.
The shooter came out and ran right by him.
The dog was held back from chasing him, too.
This keeps getting worse for Secret Service.
This should be a bigger story.
Donald Trump launched military strikes on Iran, setting off a chain reaction that left Gulf countries scrambling for drone defense. Now, his sons are stepping in to sell those same countries the very drones the conflict made necessary.
The president starts a war, the war creates demand, his own family moves in to profit, and foreign governments, desperate for American military backing, feel enormous pressure to buy. This is the first family in American history to profit from a war their father started without Congress’s consent.
That is a level of corruption this country has never seen before. The American people deserve to know who exactly their government is working for, because right now it is not working for you.
Welcome to Episode 14 of the Corruption Chronicles.
Only reason for Pete Hegseth to fire top generals in middle of a war is that they refused to follow orders.
Only reason well-respected generals would refuse to follow DOD Secretary's orders was that those orders were insane.
Americans are going to die for Pete & Donald's egos.
