We are delighted to inform you that the Board of Directors of Bank of India has approved the long-awaited conversion of eligible Specialist Officers to the General Banking Officer (GBO) cadre, bringing to an end the prolonged wait of several years and marking a significant milestone for our Specialist Officer colleagues.
The detailed operational guidelines are expected to be issued shortly. The approved framework is based on the uniform guidelines prescribed by IBA and adopted across the banking industry.
@fboioa_india has consistently and relentlessly pursued this issue through sustained representations and continuous follow-up at every appropriate forum. We are pleased that these persistent efforts have culminated in this positive outcome.
At the same time, we would like to inform our members that certain restrictions form part of the existing IBA guidelines, which are common across the banking industry. @fboioa_india has already taken up these concerns with the @aiboc_in Leadership, and the matter will have to be pursued at the industry level through IBA so that appropriate improvements can be secured in the larger interest of Specialist Officers across the banking sector.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all eligible Specialist Officers on this landmark achievement. Let us celebrate this important milestone while remaining united and confident as we continue our collective efforts to secure further improvements and greater opportunities for our beloved officer fraternity.
With warm regards,
Nilesh Pawar
General Secretary

“Work-life balance” in some systems means:
Work till exhaustion.
Balance your mental breakdown quietly.
Young professionals are told they are the “future of the nation,” then welcomed with impossible targets, staff shortages, transfers far from family, endless pressure, and the timeless management philosophy, “adjust kar lo.”
Apparently, being overworked is called commitment. Anxiety is called performance pressure. Silence is called professionalism.
When a 22-year-old reaches a point where life itself feels heavier than the job, maybe the question is not about individual strength. Maybe the system should stop celebrating pressure as productivity.
Policies proudly speak about employment, growth, and development. Strange how nobody mentions the emotional cost hidden behind those glossy reports.
A workforce is not built by squeezing people dry. A country cannot progress by normalizing burnout and calling it discipline.
But yes, keep increasing targets. Human lives are clearly “non-performing assets.”

Deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of Shri Bishal Brata Roy, a newly recruited DRO at Bank of Baroda. This tragic incident highlights the importance of continuously reviewing workplace conditions, employee well-being, and support systems in the banking sector.
The time calls for constructive introspection on training, staffing levels, workload management, transfer policies, mental health support, and employee-friendly HR practices.
A strong banking system must be built not only on performance, but also on the well-being, dignity, and professional growth of its workforce.
Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

A March ritual in public sector banks — internal promotions. A close look at the process which is often opaque. Not in all banks though. Latest #BankersTrust in @bsindia
A very pertinent observation by @TamalBandyo ji. Transparency in promotions is not merely an HR ideal—it is central to morale, credibility, and institutional integrity. When processes lack clarity and uniformity, it inevitably impacts motivation and trust at all levels.
As stakeholders in the system, we strongly believe that well-defined, objective, and transparent promotion frameworks are essential for sustaining both performance and fairness in all PSBs.
This is an area that deserves serious, system-wide introspection and reform.

Viksit Bharat is being drafted in committees while banks run without staff.
One branch, half the manpower, full expectations.
Work-life balance is preached, but #5DaysBanking is treated like a threat to the Economy.
Government wants world-class banks with understaffed branches and fatigued bankers.
You can’t build Viksit Bharat on policies alone — nations grow when employees are valued, rested, and heard.

Any review of the banking system for Viksit Bharat must start with ground realities—staff shortages, rising workload, and long-pending demands like #5DaysBanking. Strong banks need respected and rested bankers.Preparing banks for Viksit Bharat is impossible without addressing the concerns of bank employees. Structural reforms must go hand in hand with humane work conditions, fair policies, and institutional strengthening.

@NiravJ7@schoudhuri02@TamalBandyo Bhai private bank se government ki Pm svanidhi, pmfby pmsby aur jo bhi scheme h wo successfully implement karvak dikhao bad me ye bat rakhna...
India’s entire financial architecture runs on a 5-day work week—
Except the bankers who keep it running. 15 lakh Bank employees are still denied a basic, humane reform.
Parity isn’t a privilege. It’s justice.
A modern economy demands modern work practices.RBI, Govt offices, LIC, and insurers follow a 5-day week—bank employees must too.
Equality at work is not optional.
