๐ฌBuilding Blocks: The Dolphin Version๐ฌ
You don't have to be a ๐ณ to compete in @GuildOfGuardian's Building Blocks event.
Rare Founders are relatively cheap, but there are so many of them it's hard to tell which are worth it.
Gear is still the determining factor for most of us.
Let's look at standout Guardians for each gear type and some combinations that seem to work well together.
If you haven't read it yet, check out my post on F2P Core One rare Guardians here:

STRENGTH FOUNDER GUARDIANS
Umbar
We know from the Act 2 teaser on the GoG Discord that tomorrow's Building Block event will involve a raid boss version of Tomoe.
That's why Umbar is on my radar.
His ult applies a huge 50% defense debuff that will help your entire party inflict more damage.
He also gains a 9% defense bonus every 10 seconds in combat, which makes him viable as a front liner in Endless format.
As an Umbrus Founder, he gets the score and attack bonuses, as well as life leech.
Arkus
Arkus seems like an early crowd-favorite - and for good reason.
He's a beefy tank that can deal big damage with his ult.
His passive gives him a massive 60% HP boost, which improves life leech's effectiveness.
Rei
Rei stands out for me because of her passive which applies a burn effect that deals 50% of her attack as true damage.
Combustion is also stackable, meaning that she can really pile on damage that enemies simply can't defend against.
AGILITY FOUNDER GUARDIANS
Strider
Strider is probably the rare Guardian with the highest damage output.
I say probably because I'm still not sure how her Ult works.
It sounds like it does additional damage if she targets an enemy with it twice, and that could come into play against the Tomoe Raid boss.
Her passive is what makes her shine. She starts the fight targeting back-row enemies - dealing extra damage based on how far away they are.
Torim
Torim won't be a popular choice, but hear me out.
His AoE ult is surprisingly effective at close range and can take down front-row mobs very quickly (especially wearing Derisda's kit ๐ช).
His ult and his passive spam stun on the enemy formation.
The effect only lasts 0.5 seconds, but that's good enough to interrupt enemy ults and active skills mid-cast.
I also like that he complements Strider's high single-target damage with a big AoE. He's an excellent choice if you run 2 agility sets.
INTELLIGENCE GUARDIANS
Felicia
It feels like everyone in the community is converging on Felicia because she's the only intelligence Guardian with an AoE damage-dealing ability.
Her passive has big damage potential. It grants 70% damage bonus against enemies with burn...and it's totally possible to apply burn on raid bosses.
GUARDIAN COMBOS
Here are some combinations of Guardians I found worked well together in testing or that seem to pair well together.
There are many others.
My intent here is to help get you started if you haven't spent much time with GoG's rare Guardians.
The Umbrus Crew
Let's start with the obvious one.
If you stick the four Umbrus Guardians - Zole, Umbar, Rowan, and Aria - in a squad, you should score well right? Maybe not!
Unfortunately...Rowan sucks ๐ค!
His cleansing ult MIGHT come in handy at some point, but his heal only triggers when he dies.
I'm also not sold on Aria!
It seems like the team nerfed the passive that made her great in the regional test, and black lotus can be tricky to use.
That's not to mention you need 3 intelligence gear sets to make this work in the first place.
Felicia, Rei and Huurk
Felicia's passive gives a big damage bonus to enemies with burn...so why not pair her with the two rare Guardians who can actually apply it?!?
Now, running two warriors up front will make your squad ultra-squishy.
You can manage that by only adding one of the two. You can also run two healers, or a tank and a healer depending on the gear you have available.
Andronica and Ferulia
Ferulia is the best healer, Andronica's life drain lets your Guardians recover a portion of their attacks as HP.
Put that behind any three Founders with life leech and they become very hard to kill.
Umbar and Ulmak
It's more than just the names.
Unlike Boss Rush, it should be possible for your Guardians to start against Tomoe with full energy bars.
Umbar debuffs defense by 50%, Ulmak debuffs attack speed by 50%. See where I'm going?
I can't test it this week, but it seems very strong on paper.
Both of them also have defensive passives that make them viable as front liners for Endless-style content.
Toktun and Arkus
There are a lot of good rare tanks, but this is the shut down pair in my opinion.
Toktun's kit packs magic resistance and physical damage reflection. Arkus is a mountain of HP (with Flix's artifact to boot ๐คฉ).
If you need a wall to stand between your enemies and your squishy damage dealers, this is who to turn to.
WHO AM I STARTING?
I run a 2 STR, 1 AGI, 2 INT squad, so I'll start with Ferulia, Andronica, Strider, Umbar and Arkus to get a feel for the content.
This squad has two tanky front-liners protecting a solid DPS. Umbar can lower Tomoe's defense while Strider pelts her with arrows.
It's almost guaranteed that I'll be switching to other Guardians as I learn more about the event and see how the leaderboard shapes up.
If you have the flexibility to own several rare Founder Guardians, I'd encourage you to keep your options open too.
There's just no telling how any squads will perform until its go time!

๐๐๐Pick Your Rare F2P Squad๐๐๐!
With only two days left before @GuildOfGuardian's first special event, it's time to settle on your all-rare squad.
But if you're 100% F2P, you don't have a lot to choose from.
Here's a quick breakdown for each role and who could be a good pick based on your gear setup!
SQUAD ROLES
Tanks
Toktun and Yalmar are your two F2P tank options.
They make a good pairing up front, but if I had to pick one, I would go with Toktun. He's more durable, which is what you need from a tank.
Yalmar has a good balance of DPS and damage reduction. You could try experimenting with him in situations where you might reach for Huurk.
Physical DPS
Your two choices for physical damage dealing are Batu, and Okubo.
Assassins do big damage but are extremely fragile. Okubo likes to mix it up at close range too - which doesn't help his survivability at all.
That's why I prefer Batu as a DPS carry. His passive makes him fire off basic attacks faster for bigger damage, and he mostly stays out of harm's way.
Magical DPS
Your only two choices for magic DPS are Zole and Huurk.
Zole takes it because his Umbrus domain also earns you bonus points in the event. He's also a decent single-target DPS who can carry the offense.
Huurk is still relevant but don't expect him to a) last long, and b) carry damage-dealing duties.
His abilities are AoE and do damage over time. Those make him a great secondary DPS to back up Batu and Zole.
Support
Ferulia and Andronica are the two supports in the Core One rare cast.
Ferulia is the best rare healer - Founders included. The Building Blocks event is similar to Endless, so you'll want to find a spot for her no matter what.
Andronica is a great support who can heal your squad and grant them life drain for extra durability.
She can't carry healing like Ferulia because her heal comes at the expense of her HP. But, she can be a nice compliment if you want extra insurance.
WHO SHOULD YOU TAKE?
Gear will probably decide who you put in your squad, so let's look at some common setups.
2 Str and 3 Int Sets
If this is your setup, then your back row is chosen for you - Ferulia, Zole, and Andronica.
Since you'll have two Guardians on healing duties, I would consider pairing Toktun and Huurk up front to back up Zole.
2 Str, 1 Agi, 2 Int Sets
In this scenario, Batu is the logical choice for your agility set.
Zole SHOULD be an automatic pick because of the bonus points, but I got better results with Ferulia and Andronica from testing.
If you stick with Zole, I would go with Toktun and Yalmar to protect him and Batu.
If you go with dual healers, then Huurk can help your damage output.
1 Str, 2 Agi, 2 Int Sets
This scenario might occur if you're running Ashwyn and Atticus/Derisda in your main party.
This basically commits you to Okubo and Batu.
You should probably make peace with the fact that Okubo will die fast once the difficulty ramps up.
That's why I would plan for a squad of four with Toktun, Ferulia, Batu and Andronica to go as deep as possible.
1 Str, 4 Int Sets
Supports are great! And, I have seen Core One squads in the wild that run something like Aquiris, Flix, Griselle, Ennara and a tank.
If this is your situation, you've got a decision to make about your F2P status.
You could run with a four Guardian squad of Zole, Andronica, Ferulia, and Toktun (your fifth with thrift gear will probably die early).
Orrrrr, you could spend the 5 USD to purchase Felicia, a great DPS cinder mage from the Founder collection.
As a Founder, she starts with 4 diamonds and 3 radiance, so you don't even need to upgrade her.
Aria is also a great choice, but she's pricier (12 USD and climbing) and her kit is all healing.
She does get domain and ascension bonuses from the event, which is why her price is up at the moment.
Whatever you decide to go with, just remember to have fun! Don't forget that you can reset your Guardians if you make a mistake!
