Imagine having a miscarriage or pregnancy complication but being denied care unless you pay thousands in fees‼️This is the reality for migrants in Ontario without status.

When I teach professionals, I sometimes put them in groups to discuss and take notes. I specifically name that women are overwhelmingly called upon to serve as recorders, so I ask that every group assign a man to do this. The reactions are *wild*. Regularly, one man makes a 1/x
Support midwives' advocacy to remove unnecessary red tape and restrictions on their prescribing powers - so Ontarians can get the care they deserve. https://t.co/kTWsfcAqer
.@fordnation,@SylviaJonesMPP Red tape restricts midwives from prescribing medications affecting the ~30 000 Ontarians who receive midwifery care each year. Allow midwives to work to their full scope! #ONpoli
.@fordnation,@SylviaJonesMPP Midwives are urging Health Minister - do away with medication lists for midwives. Current restrictions hinder midwives from practising to full scope, create risk and inflate costs. #ONPoli
#Ontariomidwives stand in solidarity with CUPE education workers. Female-dominated sectors of work, gender pay gaps and the denial of fair bargaining hit very close to home.

Blazing a trail through Canada’s legal landscape was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts & support of midwives, our legal team @mcornishequity@AdrienneTelfor1@CavalluzzoLLP, organizations & individuals across Canada. THANK YOU for helping #Ontariomidwives make history.
We applaud @ONgov for making the right choice to not waste any more resources on a third appeal of midwives' human rights win! The AOM looks forward to working together with Minister of Health @SylviaJonesMPP to complete the implementation of the HRTO-ordered remedies.
The Ontario government has already lost two previous appeals of the HRTO decision in midwives' favour. The government's decision to not pursue a third appeal at Canada's highest court means the precedent-setting HRTO decision & remedy orders to close the gender wage gap stand.
After almost a decade of determined perseverance, Ontario #midwives can truly savour their landmark human rights victory: @ONThealth has confirmed they will not seek leave to appeal the HRTO #payequity decision for midwives at the Supreme Court of Canada.

When I started reporting on gender-affirming medical care and suicide, I knew a few things: There is research showing a positive relationship between receiving hormones/puberty blockers and mental health, the research is controversial, and studying this topic is tough.

Midwives launched a human rights claim in 2013 & won. 2 appeals later & #MidwivesKeepWinning. @fordnation how many losses will it take? #NoMoreAppeals
"Ontario government has been fighting midwives in court for almost a decade & each time we’ve won.... @fordnation stop wasting more tax dollars fighting midwives. Cut the gender penalty from midwifery pay & let’s move forward." @JasminTecson

Thank you, @angelynsayshi, for sharing #OntaMidwives' pay equity story! Almost 10 years of legal proceedings & #MidwivesKeepWinning - yet still waiting for the ON government to complete the work to close the #genderwagegap. Every win is gratifying but the fight is exhausting.
Another win for #OntarioMidwives! Time for government to stop wasting tax dollars on costly appeals. #MidwivesKeepWinning#NoMoreAppeals
