Competing on Day Two of the inaugural National Indoor Athletics Championships, G. Reegan cleared 5.30m to win gold in men's pole vault, register his personal best and move to third on India’s all-time list.

The effort also saw him breach the Commonwealth Games qualification mark.

Baranica Elangovan of Tamil Nadu smashed the national record in the women’s pole vault event, clearing a height of 4.22m on the opening day of the National Indoor Championships.

This achievement comes days after she cleared the qualifying standard for the Asian Games (4.10m) en route to winning gold at the 5th Indian Open Jumps Competition.
