The city died long ago, and it is sad. Today most areas are pitch dark, security is an issue, businesses faced lots of harassment. I still recall the days when Nairobi was literally a 24 hour city, you could walk at 3am and feel very safe. This began going down from 2017. It was going down gradually, but nobody paid attention.

Govt grabs land in Western Kenya while making arbitrary arrests and maiming for gold. Grabbing community and customary land in the coastal region for tourism. Grabbing community land in Taita for Mining Iron. Destroying infrastructure and water resources in Central. Destroying flora and fauna in Kajiado for private resort tourism.

The role of the Kenya government is to ensure that Africans in Kenya do not improve their livelihoods. That anti-development demon is wired into civil servants by the school system. In school, Kenyans are taught that receiving a western education means becoming gods who provide "solutions" for stupid African natives who don't know better. And the solutions come from the West for civil servants to implement. That means that every time the "natives" show even a little capacity to do something for themselves, the civil servants destroy it in the name of licenses and regulation.

The civil service is as alienated from reality and as as sadistic to ordinary people as the French aristocracy that said "let them eat cake."
