[🚨🚨Shocking Breaking News from Korea]
Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Team Announces "Will Publicly Summon Yoon Suk-yeol," Then Belatedly Corrects to "Under Consultation"
The 2nd Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Team (Special Prosecutor Kwon Chang-young), which is investigating remaining allegations following the 3rd Special Prosecutor Team, initially announced that it had decided to publicly disclose the appearance of former President Yoon Suk-yeol to the media on the upcoming 6th, but later corrected the statement, saying that it is currently under consultation.
Originally, Assistant Special Prosecutor Kim Ji-mi stated at a regular briefing this afternoon (the 1st), "The Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Team has decided to disclose the appearance of former President Yoon on June 6th for the sake of the public's right to know."
If the appearance were to be disclosed, it would have been a situation where former President Yoon could appear before the press with his body restrained by handcuffs after disembarking from the Seoul Detention Center transport vehicle at the building's parking lot.
The Special Prosecutor Team also notified the press corps to designate and inform them of the reporters who would cover the summons schedule.
However, after the contents of the briefing were reported, former President Yoon’s side refuted the claim, stating, “We are in the process of consulting with the Special Counsel, and the ‘public disclosure of his appearance’ is not a confirmed decision.”
About an hour and a half after the defense team’s response, the Special Counsel issued another statement, correcting the position by saying, “We are currently consulting with former President Yoon’s lawyers regarding the public disclosure of his appearance, and it has not yet been finalized.”
They added that they were sorry for causing confusion.
This questioning of former President Yoon follows the successive summoning of former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Cho Tae-yong, former NIS Second Deputy Director Hong Jang-won, and former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min in connection with charges of engaging in important duties related to insurrection.
Former President Yoon is accused of instructing former National Security Advisor Shin Won-shik and former First Deputy National Security Advisor Kim Tae-hyo to deliver messages justifying martial law to allied nations, including then-U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, immediately after the declaration of a state of emergency. The special counsel team is expected to focus its questioning on whether former President Yoon gave instructions regarding allegations that messages justifying martial law were sent to the CIA and other entities implicated by former Director Cho and former Deputy Director Hong.
The special counsel team suspects that former Deputy Director Hong received a report regarding the messages supporting martial law and gave his approval, but Hong's side refutes this, claiming they knew nothing about it.

On May 27, a Dutch navy frigate, De Ruyter, illegally intruded into China's Xisha Islands. The warship repeatedly launched its shipborne helicopter into Chinese airspace.
In response, the Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command organized naval and air forces, issued radio warnings, and took necessary measures, including warning electronic interference, to drive it away in accordance with law and regulations. @MediaUnlock
