THERE IS ZERO INNOVATION IN HARDWARE WALLETS
The hardware wallet industry picked its recovery model in 2013 and has spent every year since improving everything except that.
The industry knows the seed phrase is the weak point. It just kept it as the default because changing the default means changing everything around it: setup, recovery, what the app does, what the device is for.
So your whole wallet ends up resting on one piece of paper you have to protect for the rest of your life.
This is why we started building @RyderWallet and wanted to change the "default"
TapSafe is how Ryder handles backup and recovery. Instead of one seed phrase, it splits your wallet backup into multiple pieces using a weighted version of Shamir Secret Sharing. Those pieces live across Recovery Tags, a paired phone backup in the Ryder App, and trusted Recovery Contacts.
> Recovery Tag = 2 slices
> Paired phone = 2 slices
> Recovery Contact = 1 slice
> Recovery needs 4 slices
No single piece can recover the wallet on its own. You need a combination that clears the threshold, which means the default setup is one Recovery Tag plus your paired phone. Add Recovery Contacts later if you want your backup spread across more people and places. You never have to rebuild the wallet to do it.
Shamir on its own just gives you more pieces of paper to protect. The weighting is what lets a tag, a phone, and a person each carry different weight, so recovery works the way your life actually works.
Recovery is the part you hope you never use. Here is the part you touch every day.
You do everything in the @RyderWallet App: check your portfolio, prepare transactions, swap, buy, earn. Ryder One is the approval layer. Before anything sensitive happens you tap the device, read the details on its own screen, and approve the action offline. Your phone handles convenience. The device handles signing.
Setup takes under 60 seconds. No seed phrase by default. No USB, no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi on the device at all. No cables, no browser extensions, no firmware tools, and no signing screen asking you to trust a string of hex you cannot read.
The mental model is one line: use the app like any normal crypto app, and approve the important stuff by tapping a secure offline device you are holding.
TapSafe fixes recovery. Ryder One fixes the part you touch every day.

Raw execution time: 142μs. Lock wait latency: 1,840μs.
This is why scaling Solana isn't just about adding more Sealevel threads. When hot-state write contention stalls worker queues, slot time compression hits a physical wall regardless of hardware.
The real bottleneck isn't compute - it's write-lock scheduling.

Pantera Capital's @0xfishylosopher and @cosmo_jiang sat down with us to separate the real thesis from the noise on agentic finance.
- Three things most people get wrong about agentic payments.
- Why 'agent banking' is the actual category.
- And the specific infrastructure stack that needs to exist before agents can handle money autonomously.
Here's the breakdown.
