This just arrived at my door. Thank you to @CASUpdate@CAS_IEF@wfsaorg for allowing me to be a part of your communities. I am honored to join some exceptional colleagues who have also received this award @WRajaleelan@dylanbould. Take the time to nominate your colleagues!
TRUMPET BLARE!!!! Niigaan and the Lone Ranger is back for a fourth season. We kick off with former MB Premier and former Cdn Ambassador to US Gary Doer, who tells us to keep calm and (don't hesitate) to tariff on. https://t.co/sPyygoQKOQ #mbpoli#wpgpoli#cdnpoli
Amazing presentation by my dear friend Dr. @WRajaleelan who is deeply involved with Global Health, showing us how important it is for us, as doctors, to know what is happening around the world #LUCAS2025 Ottawa.
Clinical tests for confirming tracheal intubation or excluding oesophageal intubation
Misting
• has a false positive rate of 0.69, meaning it is present in 69% of oesophageal intubations
• has a positive likelihood ratio of 1.46, meaning that the presence of misting indicates that tracheal placement is only 1.46-fold more likely than oesophageal placement
Chest auscultation
• has a false positive rate of 0.14–0.18, meaning that 14–18% of oesophageal intubations will be incorrectly classified by this test
Oesophageal detector device
• has a false positive rate of 0.05; this means it will ‘miss’ 1 in 20 oesophageal intubations
Chest rise
• one animal study looking at 20 rats showed a false positive rate of 0.15

I was reminded of something so powerful while listening to @Niigaanwewidam at TIFA today: in this reconciliation process, it can be frustrating. But always act in a manner with love. That’s it. So we press on ❤️❤️❤️
Very grateful to speak at the Canadian Surgery Forum with Drs. Rachel Livergant and Sam Bugis on Treaty 1 Territory and the birthplace of the Métis. Honoured to bring a message about how we can bring Reconciliation into our Operating Room Theatres.
@ON_Anesthesia Surgery, Obstetrics and Anesthesia services are interrelated and key to supporting rural communities. Losing them is akin to closing the high school or the water treatment facility.
Dr. Ariana Hillier, an FP-A from New Liskeard, talks about “the snowball effect” that losing anesthesia services in rural/remote locations can trigger, resulting in the loss of other vital medical services; all the more reason to invest in anesthesia HR #OAAM2024
