@SVDavies1 Very true, it's important to link sustainability back to the student's own lives. I think straws, plastic bottles, and food packaging are things that are prominent in student's lives and have the most relevance.
@SVDavies1 This is great to see from a major company. I remember going to a recycling plant in year 6 where we learnt about the levels of recyclable materials. Perhaps you could take stage 3 on a similar excursion, and from that they could help Coca-Cola design the most eco friendly design?
@SVDavies1 What a great resource! Playing and letting go of balloons is definitely something majority of kids have done, yet wouldn't understand how that impacts the environment.
@dylancatz16 This is great to see! Collaboration with local community members and the school not only helps students embrace cultural diversity, but shows our community how supportive we are in building these positive relationships and working on past negative perceptions.
Reflection at the end of a lesson is important for students to consolidate their learning. When students share their thinking processes, their peers can learn from them! How do you incorporate reflection time within lessons with limited time? #UoNteach
With the BYOD policy in schools now, how do would you include student's devices in a meaningful way? I've found that iMovie on iPads are a great resource for group based projects! #UoNTeach
@BraedenBrien In my placements I've noticed that group work is great way for students to develop critical thinking because they are exposed other student's thinking processes, and as we know, collaboration is another vital #21stcenturyskills
@ClaudiaRussell4 A lot of these games can be modified to work within any school! They include a lot of PE games, but also have some in class activities that could be played at the end of the day instead of the usual round of "heads down, thumbs up"
I remember using this resource in my first uni PE course, and I'm now revisiting to include it in my cultural diversity unit. What a simple way to highlight Aboriginal culture in an engaging way through physical exercise! #UoNTeach

@BraedenBrien Well I think this resource would be a great start to reaching out to the school community and seeing if there were other cultural games that could be included in the classroom!
I've found this great resource from the UoN library on a book called "Aboriginal Dreamtime of the Hunter Region". I'll be using this when teaching students about the Aboriginal history in their hometown #UoNTeach https://t.co/hyMvjJXpiz
@MitchellJSalter Yes I've noticed that too, students are really engaged with Dreamtime stories, and I think using local Dreamtime stories would make it more significant to them
@Raywyn2 That's such a lovely idea! On my recent placement, the school choir organised a Christmas presentation which they performed at their local shopping centre. It was great to see them involving themselves in the wider community.
@ellenm_morgan Great idea Ellen, it would be great to see children engaging in active play out of their designated PE time, which could definitely be achieved with engaging new sport resources
Interesting political discussion that has happened today. What do you think schools could achieve with more funding? I believe teachers would be able to put more resources towards creating equitable and supportive classrooms for all students with varying backgrounds #UoNTeach
Nine in 10 public schools not being funded for their basic needs. 93% of public school teachers dip into own pockets to buy stationary and classroom equipment β absolute disgrace. @janet_rice@Greens#teachers2019
@GodschalkJacob Agreed, there's continuous development on how classrooms can be structured to promote collaboration which is so important in developing those #21stcenturyskills
When developing my integrated unit on #CulturalDiversity, I'm constantly questioning at what points can I involve the community? How can I make classroom learning relevant to my student's out of school knowledge?Would love to hear some suggestions from fellow educators #UoNTeach
