@dylancatz16 Twitter has been the best resource and was quite surprised by how informative and helpful the online education community was, this is definitely something I'll continue to use in the future. #UoNTeach
@SVDavies1 Couldn't agree more, being able to incorporate cross-disciplinary aspect into lessons only helps demonstrating content and how it can be applied in a multitude of ways in the real world.
@SVDavies1 It often feels as though many of these wonderful ideas and research isn't given the light it deserves with people often unaware of the small changes that can be implemented immediately and cost free. Adding to this competing with falsified information surrounding sustainability.
@dylancatz16 When creating a culturally responsive curriculum teachers need to consider each students individual needs. Learning should encompass cultural life providing the students with the opportunity to make their own cultural links to the curriculum, encouraging inclusion #UoNTeach
@KPulik @BehindTheNews I absolutely agree maintaining an inclusive and supportive classroom is key to providing the best environment for students to learn.
Great to see schools implementing sustainable practices and teaching the kids valuable information. It also promotes multi-KLA approach as students learn about agricultural practices and money management practises as they run their own stall selling the produce. #UoNTeach
@SVDavies1 This is a great website. Students could also find other ways to re-use these items through critical and innovative thinking. They could analyse the objects they have an attempt to re-purpose them and invent something new further validating their creation to the class.
@SVDavies1 Students could explore the benefits of healthy eating and sustainable growth through constructing a vegetable patch within school that allows the students to regularly consume the produce. This would also lessen the amount of plastic packaging with in the school.
@SVDavies1 This video is very eye opening and confronting in a good way, as it allows people to see whilst some of these activities may be fun to do, they do in fact have a negative impact. This would be excellent in the classroom
@KPulik I was genuinely surprised by the amount of resources available on here and how open the collaboration is between other organisations with the goal of bettering each other and their practise.
@dylancatz16 When incorporating the 8 Ways Pedagogy it is beneficial to relate the Aboriginal students sense of community and storytelling to the classroom. The students need to understand the links between their education and how it contributes to their community and culture #UoNTeach
@SVDavies1 Students living in built up areas could explore the benefits of water saving and water management especially if they live in town where water is linked and continuous as opposed to rural areas where people must be cautious with supplies depending on the season.
@SVDavies1 That's such an awesome idea, in addition to this the students get to explore recent events and will help them to critically think and decipher real data in a world where "facts" can be falsified.
@dylancatz16 During my first practical I was engaged in several activities in NAIDOC week, it was a great celebration of culture with speakers, workshops and fun activities for the kids. It was great to see the students so actively participating and eager to learn about Indigenous culture.
A benefit to all this research into sustainable practice has made me reflect up on my lesson planning. Now when I make lessons i'm conscious of what materials I use and find enviro-safe alternatives which are often in abundance. Has your research changed your practise? #UoNTeach
@KPulik Promoting inclusive values from a young age so children feel included and safe in an environment is so important for them socially and academically.
